As promised, the blog post to go with this has finally dropped (I hope!) - having major issues with linking my domain so can't view the homepage but here is a step by step how to and how I and others have used it

For anyone who teaches using a PowerPoint but also wants to use their visualiser - the cameo function on PowerPoint will change your life. Embed the visualier directly into PPT slide so no more faffing around going in and out of PowerPoint

A thread on teaching live lessons using
@MicrosoftTeams
Meet Now function where students follow their normal timetable except online - will go into more detail on every point in a blog post later. Have used Teams for live teaching have supported over 100 live lessons since March
Wow!
Anyone who teaches with a visualiser and PPT
Insert -> Cameo then select your camera shape
When visualiser is attached, click on cameo shape, then in the toolbar, camera format -> camera preview then select visualiser
Even more fun on a Mac as you can select an iPhone!

🔓💻 Unlocking Microsoft Teams keyboard shortcuts - a thread to make everything that little bit faster - as much as possible I've mentioned if they will/will not work on the web app and if you need to change anything

The reaction to this post has left me mind blown!
I'm going to put together a blog post about how I use it, and how it can be used, why it makes such a difference.

When Covid case numbers drop over the next few days - which they will, this isn't a drop in the number of cases. There is a severe lack of PCR and LFD testing available, so of course the numbers will come down if people can't test!
Making live lessons interactive - going to do a thread about
@nearpod
, a free app which you can use during a live or non live lessons to make your lessons more interactive and get excellent feedback from students

I genuinely don’t understand the negativity around Michaela - the model works for their students and the exam results are proof - it has opened so many doors for those students to move onto further Ed. Find what’s works and be brave enough to follow through on it
How lovely! 🥰we have had over 2000 visitors to Michaela since we opened in 2014.
98% are teachers/SLT. They take ideas back to their schools.
It is an honour to have impact on so many schools and classrooms. 👌🏽
Need help on Microsoft Teams, Microsoft Class Notebook or remote learning - over 9000 visitors in 13 days

Can those people who haven't a clue about schools and education kindly buggar off telling schools what to do? Another stupid article calling for schools to be reopened too early!
@TeacherToolkit
@NickyGNickster
I'd imagine that there are a fair few HT's who actually pay for it out of their own pocket as well. I'd also think that within CPD budgets, a lot would not necessarily have been spent on development, so using that money for wellbeing is a very good move.
Struggled with my MH this week hence have been pretty quiet on here lately, today has been the start of a fresh start. Didn't sleep much this week, but got through it. Onwards and upwards
Now that the Opening Ceremony is on, I can finally post these - had the honour of being the stand in flag bearer for Tuvalu during the first rehearsal on Sunday. Glad for everyone involved tonight that it is drier
@HalilMrT1
That is not banter - it is disgusting behaviour that is bullying
I have to admire the staff member for having the courage to walk out, that isn't an easy thing to do, but they should never have been put in that position
My latest blog post on the features of Immersive Reader, a free tool within Microsoft that has the potential for significant impact on students who struggle with reading and English as a second language

So I'll have to invigilate, mark and standardise an exam paper, do all the same work as I would do as an examiner on top of my workload without any extra pay and potentially mark papers that the students have already gotten from other schools?
Finishing 2020 on a high note - I've now taken the plunge to create my own Edtech website that currently has all my Teams notes (with lots more content to come) and blog.

@WorldRugby

@fijirugby
Fiji with three days of proper training - resulted in the least points that NZ have scored ever against Fiji and the most Fiji have scored against NZ. Roll on next week's match - going to be epic
@precioussparkle
@clayco69
@cononeilluk
But the MP who was awaiting test results travelled from Scotland to London, then got positive test result while in London and took a train home while being Covid positive! No fine for her
@tes
@annelongfield
That paragraph - wow. The whole idea is disgraceful - students and teachers will need a proper break. Despite schools being “closed”, they aren’t - teachers are working harder than ever, and many are on site to mind vulnerable and key workers children. Start fresh in Sept
There have been a lot of weird things happening with Twitter, but this is one I totally love - labelling these ridiculous accounts exactly as they are - AUTOMATED BOTS! Teacher today, train driver before Christmas
This day last year, I wrote a two page memo on the power of Microsoft Teams & how it needed to be a main priority, gave a strategic overview of rollout across multiple school, but didn't even get an acknowledgment of my email. Roll on 12 months - I think I may have been right!
Who had 10.30pm in the lockdown leak betting? So all schools and all students back on March 8th with school sports and activity clubs all back, organised sport back on 29th March
@MrsSmanwar
I've called out loads of them previously - very easy to find them on Getty. A lot of the photos used were from June/July as opposed to actually being from now. Many of the stock photos aren't even UK based
@tompccs
@Miss_Snuffy
Ridiculous comment - every headteacher has to do what the government says, it is not down to a headteacher to close a school. If a staff member or child infected, the school is closed on Dept of Health advice - other than that the government says they must be open!
@NQTMissM
That sounds like the kind of SLT you want to be working for! Nobody expects you to be able to handle everything on your own, keep reaching out to your SLT and mentor (and Twitter) for guidance and support - you can get over the hurdles!!
Appalling headline - another stick to best teachers with. All these schools will still be delivering learning as well as staying open for keyworker and vulnerable children
@leahjwright
@Headteacherchat
MPs will stay at home despite this hitting crisis point and despite having the technology to do so - remember the up to £10,000 they could claim for setting up their working from home offices back in March/April
@GavinWilliamson
The data doesn't show that Gavin! 50 fold increase in the number of cases between students of year 7 to year 11 age - stop kidding yourself.
@AnitaArmitt1
@MicrosoftTeams
Our year 7s were very quick to pick it up both in March and Sept. Different schools have it set up different ways to access live lessons - I've a student guide here which covers the basics

Insert -> Cameo then select your camera shape

If they had announced this lockdown a week ago, it would have given teachers and leaders time to prepare properly for online learning, using today as a training day and being properly ready. Yet again we are chucked into it, this time with 12/13 hours for many primary schools
DRAMA AT THE DEATH - massive Welsh scrum leads to penalty, kicked to touch - good defense initially from Ireland, before Welsh scrum half Keira Bevan finds an inch of space to break Irish hearts and secure the win for the visitors
Thank you to all the parents around the country who took time to write to their schools and write to Ofsted, means a huge amount! Headteachers, get sharing those emails with staff - much needed boost.
@pennthorpehead
@kateowbridge
Boris needed to be much firmer about key workers - just because they are a key worker does not mean they need to send their children to school. Only send their children if there is no other option for childcare needed to be the message as staffing will get very stretched!
There are 1440 minutes in a day, 1325 people died of Covid yesterday, almost one per minute. 1325 families with an empty chair at their table and a hole in their hearts. Such a sad situation
Hi Boris, the last time you held a press conference on a Saturday you were extremely late - announced for 4pm, then 5.30pm then actually started at 6.45 & caused Strictly to be late. Boris, please note the final of Strictly starts at 6pm - don't be late this time
Hancock statement due at 2.30 to the House of Commons, followed by Williamson's statement then the head clown is hold a press conference at 5pm. Fun times
No problem having a staff wellbeing survey, but don't do it if you aren't going to act on it and make changes if needed - such a true statement from Ian Flintoff

1. If you are using the desktop app, check you have the latest version of Teams so that you should have Breakout rooms enabled. Check by clicking your profile picture, then About - I have version 1.3.00.28779. If you have 1.2..., click on check for updates to get the latest
@karamballes
Those on the ground knew that schools were drivers of infection, but the DfE helpfully removed their guidance about schools moving to rota systems that would break the chains of transmission.
@nowMrsMFL
Assignments is probably the easiest and the fastest. When setting the assignment on Teams, I'd upload the questions as a Word docx file (default new file), click the three dots and change to students can edit. So when students open the assignment, they can edit their own

This day last year I was in Malaga with my mum

@MathsMrH
It should be mandatory training for every staff member to learn how to schedule emails - means that those who want to send them can at any time they want, and people don't get them until appropriate times
