If you want to take it a step further, why don't we do volume, trigonometry, unit conversions and standard form? There are ways to make the question even longer, but I think this is the length of the longest question students are expected to do on exams.

Yesterday I spoke about patterns in Don Steward's answers at #mathsconf39. Coincidentally I was revising with my Y7 daughter this morning (she has a test tomorrow) & gave her two of Don's algebra pyramids. She was delighted to get the same answer twice so I checked the rest... :)
