I help schools facing Ofsted. ‘Taking Control 3’ & ‘Frost Patterns’ soon. Education & politics because #everychildmatters. Selection by Compliance is a blight.

SLT. Formal observations of clearly good Ts. What's the point? Enjoy lesson visits & just talk to them about teaching. You'll both learn. 😀

An Iberian lynx with ultra-rare all-white fur has been captured on video for the first time ever in Spain.😧 The 'mythical' creature, one of the rarest species in the world, was seen in the mountains of Jaén, southern Spain, by photographer, Angel Hidalgo. He had been

Morning all. A cold commute to the #teacher5oclockclub - at last! But showers forecast. Will there be some wintriness in there at 4C? Maybe half a chance tomorrow. Up to write a commentary for another special school today. They need a good defence. I hope Tuesday treats you well!

Cervical cancer used to kill 1 woman every 2 minutes. Now we’re preventing 1.4 million deaths - and protecting 86 million girls - with a simple vaccine. Here’s how low-income countries just pulled off one of the biggest public health wins of our time. This isn’t a forecast.

Major push by Gavi, the Vaccine Alliance and lower-income countries to extend access to the HPV vaccine has reached its target ahead of schedule.

Had a little boost from this. 10 more prizes needed for it to go ahead! 🤞🤞
I’m not sure if EduAdvent will be able to take place this year. Because of ‘the algorithm’ I can’t get it ‘out there’ for offers of gifts for each day. Maybe one last try…if you are kind enough to offer an advent present then please dm me.

Another day closer to my target of raising £100,000 for @spinalinjuries & @backuptrust and here's a bit more about my journey to this milestone. And I've now had some enquiries for school visits after posting in a Facebook group I've discovered!

Morning all. Arlo day today for us, so a day of laughter ahead. Dark days in the #teacher5oclockclub now but I hope you can look forward to the week. Drier and colder - at last we might see some more sun! Keep well! 👍

@SchoolsWeek Just typical. It’s a self-serving organisation. If the responses were wholly positive, @Ofstednews and its two Twitter mouthpieces, @Rory_Gribbell and @dan_ofsted would be all over it and @martyneoliver would be trumpeting it in speeches. But the responses clearly weren’t. 🙄

@SchoolsWeek There’s so much gobbledygook & avoiding the issue here. The govt should: 1. Expect schools to report on how many times they put a pupil in isolation as a punishment & why. And 2. State exactly what their isolation policy involves and what physical area pupils are isolated in.

BREAKING: Over 50 MPs have now backed my Parliamentary Motion for a Wealth Tax. A 2% tax on assets over £10 million would raise £24 Billion a year. At the Budget, we need to tax extreme wealth - not ordinary people.

NEW: 93 murders in London (pop: ~9m) in 12 months to October. The city's murder rate is now lowest for decades; perhaps centuries. https://t.co/T0o7Q0bgVw

Everyone tiptoes around the obvious question: if a MAT can’t run a school, why can’t it return to the Local Authority? Because the DfE won’t allow it. They’d rather play MAT musical chairs than admit the system is flawed
🏫 Exclusive: One of England’s biggest MATs is set to give up a founding school in a move that shows how important regional clusters are for national trusts https://t.co/JRQZQzFxvP

England vs Albania. Not much going on really. Eze looks sharp, but we’re struggling with a well-organised team. Hoping for a bit of excitement. Compared to yesterday’s rugby … well there is no excitement comparison!

According to modelling like this, the UK would have suddenly surged ahead of the rest of the EU on every important economic metric if it hadn’t been for Brexit. How?
Brexit reduced UK GDP by 6-8%...investment was reduced by 12-18%, employment by 3-4% and productivity by 3-4%....a combination of elevated uncertainty, reduced demand, diverted management time, and increased misallocation of resources... https://t.co/VFJPVDfmPk

This leads me onto my second question. This framework is wholly prejudiced against schools with disadvantaged catchments. My first question was: 1. Define Achievement. @dan_ofsted, after helpfully saying that achievement is much broader than simply academic achievement…

To the inevitable “just clear the drains” brigade. Assuming a very conservative 50mm of rain widespread, around 20 billion litres or 20 million tonnes of water landed on the Monnow catchment yesterday. Much of it rapidly Monmouth bound. https://t.co/LRacToxsfl
