For those of us who care about schools getting kids to read and holding schools to account for it. It is far more complex than it appears on the surface. Let’s hope the government is listening to the people who know.

And if so, what can we learn from America?

We take our children to visit Westminster Abbey when they are in Year 8. We teach them how to avoid walking on the gravestones. And we explain why. Children need to be taught about sanctity if we wish to preserve it. Carl👇needs teaching too.🙄
@Miss_Snuffy We step on graves all the time in churches and cathedrals on account of them being buried beneath the floor where we walk. You obviously don't spend much time in places of worship.

Protecting the sacred matters. Graffiti stickers in a church, stepping on a gravestone, disrespecting silence in a library… Culture is precious and fragile. When nothing is sacred, our culture is weakened and the vultures descend. Some of us see this. Some of us don’t.😥

Why don’t people understand sanctity and the degradation of culture? Stickers or not is IRRELEVANT. Graffiti in the CHURCH is an act of vandalism! It degrades all of us, whether we are religious or not, and immerses young people in a culture of moral depravity.
@Miss_Snuffy It’s not vandalism though. They are displaying removable stickers.

We teach inner city kids that criminality, vandalism, total self-absorption are wrong. But the Church of England glorifies it. When the kids grow up to question the rule of law, beauty and selflessness, don’t blame the schools. Blame the CHURCH. Appalling. 🤢
The Church of England decided this week to cover the interior of the oldest cathedral in England in graffiti in order to represent the voices of “marginalised communities.” The Very Rev David Monteith, Dean of Canterbury, said: “There is a rawness which is magnified by the

Like this wasn’t predictable… 🙄
When Labour announced VAT on private school fees, they promised it would raise £1.7 billion for state schools. With 25,000 pupils already forced out, eight times more than predicted, the policy is on track to cost taxpayers money rather than raise it. A thread🧵
