Covid is just a little blight,
And Donald Trump is always right,
And night is day and day is night
In Antivaxxer Hell.
Masks don’t work, vaccines are bunk,
And all that Pharma makes is junk.
(They tweet as though they’re always drunk,
And then, they cannot spell.)
@amybarnhorst
I am not an optimism queen, Lord knows, and miles away from Monica Gandhi. But I don't think it helps to say this. Even after the 1918 flu life returned to normal. Pandemics end. Always. This one will too.
We just don't know when.
@Neurofourier
I just don't get this idiotic desire to return to normal too quickly, while the virus is still circulating. If it didn't work in Denmark it won't work anywhere.
@JAFERDIAN
I have to say that's an immense overreaction.
Monkeypox is not smallpox. It has never spread efficiently. IIRC, when it came to the US years ago, it never spread at all. As long as it isn't permitted to move through many human hosts in a continuous chain, transmission will end.
@Mominsweats
@chrislhayes
How about this radical idea: Abolish EVERYONE'S right to own assault weapons. And this one: permit handguns and hunting rifles only to people over 21 who have completed gun safety training courses and passed a background check.
@TheReelRandom
@RNfoureyes
You're absolutely, terrifyingly right.
And women are taught to be passive.
It's f***ing 2022, and women are still taught to be passive.
F**k that.

I look at this picture and wonder how the first Devonian lobe-finned fishes would feel if they could see what the end product of all that evolution would be. Probably dive right back into the water.
Brett Weinstein had the best training. He studied evolutionary biology with Richard D. Alexander (my own mentor and lifelong friend). Dick must be spinning in his grave from what Weinstein has morphed into: an anti vaxxer and AIDS and Covid denialist (as well as a racist). SMDH.
Nice of Bret to use his appearance in front of millions of listeners on Rogan today to talk about how he is now an HIV/AIDS denialist. He finds the evidence that AIDS is not caused by HIV but by the gay lifestyle to be "surprisingly compelling."

She’s not going to be a “respected science journalist.” She’s a hack. If she’d been a student in my Emory science journalism class I’d have flunked her.

Frankly, COVID is increasingly seeming to me to be a scourge of Biblical proportions. A primarily vascular disease that can infect and damage kidneys, hearts, lungs brain, and that spreads from those who don't know they're infected. There's never been anything like this before.
@Robin_Blue19
Just looking at that frozen plastic face (does anyone actually admire her "beauty"?) and hearing that soft utterly fake voice whispering those meaningless platitudes makes me feel like 🤢😟🤮
@mloxton
@amybarnhorst
So easy to say—and I have NO IDEA what it means.
(Human memory is short. They used to call the 1918 flu "America's Forgotten Pandemic.") Will things have changed? Yeah, but change is constant.
I'm tired of optimism, but equally tired of doomsaying—"The World You Knew Is Gone etc.

Men don't understand the world women live in. When I was young, harassment got so bad at times I was afraid to walk down the street. And that was in Ann Arbor, Michigan, home of the U of Michigan, and famously liberal. Men just don't understand.
If anyone wants to know how wicked antivaxxers can be, here's proof. After a mother stated she would vaccinate her baby as soon as possible, this MS tweeted:
@CarlyPildis
That is absolutely horrifying and sickening.
Yet there are Jews who voted for Trump.
I will never understand it, and I have a long-time friend whom I'm going to have to struggle to ever speak to again.
@disam6iguate
@KateRoseBee
Yes it has everything to do with the answer.
We have a very specific law to that effect: saving a life overrides all else.
No one is saying other religions don't have their own moral systems.
But this one is ours.
@bamableu
Sadly, I did too. We saw some of the cops pose for selfies with these guys and actually help bring them in. People stopped talking about that for some reason. But we all saw it in the early videos.

@kehillahjewess
Oh, I love this!
One of the difficult things about the pandemic is that I can't go to my favorite Chinese restaurants.
Happy holidays!
@nytimes
I think this is a hideously classist quiz. It's snobbish. Reminds me of that putrid David Brooks piece about taking a working-class woman to an Italian restaurant:she didn't know the names of the meats. I make fresh pasta daily, Italy is my favorite country. I don't know either.
Of course the 1918 flu was caused by a failed flu vaccine! Never mind that the flu virus wasn't even isolated until 1933. It just proves that time travel has been in operation longer than we thought. The 1918 flu was a nefarious product of World Government from the year 2525.
Good lord- RFK Jr. claimed on Rogan’s podcast that there is good evidence that the flu vaccine caused the 1918 Spanish Flu epidemic. Slight problem with that claim: influenza had not even been identified until the 1930s and a flu vaccine wasn’t available to the public until 1945.
I am feeling pretty angry right now. I live an almost shut-down life. I'm fully vaxxed and boosted. I took my visiting daughter out to dinner once, in an almost empty restaurant. And yep, I got nailed with Covid. It's almost a month, I'm negative, but I'm not back. At all.
@ZackFinkNews
@NYGovCuomo
Watched this in complete disbelief and horror. This is an abominable display of fatuousness, ignorance, and indifference that borders on obscenity.
Suzanne Humphries and RFK jr are lying sacks of shit.
PolioVIRUS is a real infection, and it paralyzes and kills. The lies told here horrify and astound me. Salk and Sabin are spinning in their graves.
One of the reasons the polio vaccine doesn’t work is because polio isn’t caused by an infectious virus. It’s caused by toxins. Poliovirus is a commensal virus that is completely harmless in the absence of toxic onslaught.

Putin is an authoritarian and a dictator who murders his political enemies, including journalists, and paid the Taliban a bounty of $100,00 for every American soldier they murdered. And he interfered in the US election.
That isn’t enough for you?

OMG. I saw this tweet and didn't realize it was yours.
I was amazed at someone who could use the word "tendentious" correctly but argue such a stupid, meaningless thing. "Immunized" does not mean "has an immune system." Surely you know better.
If you don't, that's embarrassing...
@BabeTruth2
This woman was systematically lied to. All the people who have deceived others about the (supposed, and actually nonexistent) threats to their lives from the mRNA vaccines have literal blood on their hands.
@jaredpretender
@luckytran
It's worse than that. She said that it's "great news" that 75% of Covid deaths are in people with 4+ co-morbidities.
The natural corollary is that those people don't count.
The problem isn't her words. It's her intent, which she made all too clear.

I hate masks. I hate the way they make me break out, the red lines they leave on my face, the muffled, restricted sensation I get when I wear them.
But - They're my constant if unloved companions now and for the foreseeable future. Because Covid is worse.

That's very different from standing with family, friends, and the nation of Israel.

Huh?Really, if you're confused by a child's terrible guilt for infecting her mother with a fatal illness - and no, obviously it's rationally not her fault - you lack the remotest shred of empathy. My heart breaks for this child and what she has to live with forever.
@KrugAlli
What's your point? How many women, in order to save their lives from cervical cancer, are burned, sliced, cauterized, traumatized from this horrible illness.
And yes, HPV vaccine saves a LOT of lives as well as preventing morbidity from the disease and its treatment.

I actually super-resent this article, which claims that AOC and MTG are exact parallels in their own parties. It is absolutely indecent to compare the two.

Then ten percent fatality refers to only one clade of monkeypox (the Gambian clade). The West African clade has a death rate of 1%. In 2003, 47 American cases and not one fatality.

I know a young PHYSICIAN that invited his 70-something mother to a Seder when everyone in his family had upper respiratory infections. He never tested them (or himself) and yep, it was COVID, his mother caught it, and brought it home to her almost 80 year old husband.
@EnemyInAState
So much for "mild" Omicron. I think the whole idea that SARS-2 is "evolving to mildness" got a boost with the notion that Omicron is milder because it doesn't so much affect the lungs.
This is terrifying.
@humboldtnorm
@bridget_joy_
Everyone should be vaccinated. Everyone. If we're going to control this thing, that's the only way, long term, that we can. Because social-distancing/masks/lockdowns forever are not sustainable and will not work.
@RNfoureyes
This is how it begins - women submitting to mistreatment because they think they have to. So young women get choked during sex and think they have to accept it.
What a world. My generation didn't put up with that shit.

We don't know what things will be like from now on, and people need encouragement to do the right thing—get vaccinated, keep wearing masks for now, avoid large indoor gatherings—so that one day we don't have to do all that (except maybe boosters) and that's normal life, returned.

In case you didn’t notice, there was no apparent bump in disease rates after the BLM protests. Those people mostly distanced and wore masks. The good folks in South Dakota at the Sturgis motorcycle rally, though, seeded thousands upon thousands of cases. Because stupid.
You forgot the third story:
3) How a bunch of grifters created a nonsensical, totally unsupported idea (can't call it a 'theory') that Chinese scientists with the help of Americans like Fauci helped develop a world-altering pandemic virus.
It's crap and you must know it.
Regarding
#OriginOfCovid
there are 2 stories.
1. How the pandemic started.
2. How some leading scientists sought to squash the lab leak hypothesis as a conspiracy theory and continue to intimidate other scientists asking for a fair investigation.

Oh for God's sake. Adults are supposed to protect children! That's why human beings have a prolonged childhood and adolescence. Young people are vulnerable, and this kind, gifted girl was completely helpless with this evil lout.
