1. Today, my girl called me from work, where everyone was attending a seminar on racism. She was crying & her voice was shaking. She was mad, really mad, but unsure what to do about what happened in that seminar. She wanted my advice.

9. I am very proud of her for standing up. She shared our family's history & my mother surviving the Nagasaki bomb, of coming to a country in 1961 that hated the Japanese on sight, of having to protect my sister & me from being taken away by the U.S. government.

2. The seminar covered the history of racism in the U.S. but did not cover the Japanese internment & when she tried to bring it up, she was ignored. She was as mad as I've ever seen her. To her, this should not be ignored. I told her to let HR know (they scheduled the seminar).

5. My mother lived with this fear for decades. Because it had already happened in the "land of the free" to Americans, simply because of their nationality/ethnicity. My daughter (30 yrs old) knows this and the history of the racism that led to the incarceration of innocents.
