@JolyonMaugham
Maybe a long shot and slightly weird, but I have just rung Waitrose to ask them not to put Mail on Sunday on there shelves tomorrow after telling them the reason. To my surprise they took it quite seriously.
I'm centre-right. As far as I'm concerned the Tory party I grew up with no longer exists. What exists now is what I call a kleptofascist party, a party serving a super-rich kleptocratic elite, using Nazi propaganda techniques, as explained below, to manipulate the electorate.
@JeremyClarkson
How dare you call your disgraceful comment a clumsy reference.
It’s vile and you know perfectly well it is.
You’re just horrified because you’re confronted with the fact that the majority of people find you abhorrent.
@JMPSimor
They’ve admitted to shortening it, which might seem reasonable, but it wasn’t that. The BBC tampered with the sound. Audience’s laughing at Johnson can no longer be heard. It was the most telling moment. So yes sinister.
@AndrewMarr9
I am sorry your explanation doesn’t make sense. The message was loud and clear. And use of language deliberate. It was a disgraceful thing to say and certainly came across as your opinion. The damage has been done however and by many BBC broadcasts with similar tendencies since.
@BJChippindale
@_ashawndabney
If everybody masked the situation would be a lot better.
If only…….
I will never understand why people find that so hard to understand…
@GyllKing
Should never have happened of course. That poor woman. Btw, The stop oil people were not doing anything wrong either. Nor the Republic people, who had discussed it with the police beforehand. And are always peaceful. It was 9 in the morning..
@Coldwar_Steve
Your most powerful, haunting and poignant picture yet.
The utter solitude of a deserted old man versus the repugnant opulance of those in power. Total genius.
@OxfordDiplomat
The House of Commons is now watched by a much larger audience. My friends in the EU across the water find it both highly amusing and frightening. They cannot believe what they see and hear and have lost all respect for the UK, that they before held in such high esteem.
@bbclaurak
Laura for heaven’s sake, in the first place it is not a Deal!
Certainly not “officially done”. This proposal for a WA is agreed as a proposal and will be considered by the member states. And only if it passes on Saturday.
Please give us the facts. Please no sloppy journalism.
@msjanebond007
@newsboy23
@Frasmi
Won’t happen and unless there finally is PR, or a progressive alliance, everything will remain the same and no Tory will be held to account. Ever.
@JMPSimor
As my Dutch aunt pointed out to my grandmother in 1939 “if we all leave the Germans can just march in”. So they stayed, and got involved in the resistance. Not quite the same thing, but still…
@Coldwar_Steve
Still in adoration of his own reflection, even while surrounded by the bodies of children.
Just unbearable to look at this picture.
Once again you’ve come up with an image that is a perfect depiction of Johnson.
@Dr2NisreenAlwan
Yes I do as my husband was first struck by polio when he was two which he survived, but affected his mobility. Then about 50 years later it worsened and post polio syndrome was diagnosed. How wonderful it’s now been eradicated. And all because of worldwide vaccinations!
@Fevs0312
@pickledpuffin
Horrible just horrendous. Makes me feel physically sick when I listen to these people. Hopefully it will make other people more generous towards the RNLI.
@BBCBreaking
Hello
@BBCBreaking
Only in the UK….
Shops in EU full of lovely fresh tomatoes etc…
No problem with “bad weather”..
Very strange, maybe you can report about this unusual phenomenon..
Do not buy plants treated with Neonicotinoids. Bees take the pollen back to the hive and feed it to the brood. This is a number one cause of the colony collapse. Neonicotinoids are mostly banned in Europe
@msyuruk
@sahouraxo
You’re right. It’s a march for peace! And for a ceasefire! And an end to the genocide!!. Muslims, jews, christians, atheists, all united.
@AndrewPezzer20
@larrylamb47
A short film with a message. It points out what happens when countries sell off Railways, Water companies etc. Those buyers will then make will money out of it for their shareholders.
Brilliant.
Hope the message gets through and people finally wake up. GTTO
@claireepsom
@MarkReckless
EU passports could have been any colour any time. Was UK’s choice to have a red one. Quite a few EU passports are blue or black. Sadly this one doesn’t give FOM, mine does!
Such a shame for
@MarkReckless
Don’t envy him.
Maybe he doesn like travelling..or prefers getting a visa
@Anna_Soubry
@peoplesvote_uk
I’d like to rectify that. The Dutch are not “trying to lure away” UK firms. They are “welcoming” UK firms who want to flee the UK due to Brexit. Not quite the same thing.
@emmakennytv
What un utterly reckless and uneducated tweet.
Without any compassion for those who have suffered and no thought for those who would no doubt suffer if people were to followed her suggestion
@emmkennytv
@Life_Disrupted
I remember telling my UK friends that Brexit in my opinion would never happen, as it couldn’t. Explained one reason was Northern Ireland. They just didn’t seem to be able to grasp this.
@MarieAnnUK
They don’t like it? Well I’ve got news for them. They’ve got exactly what they voted for. Poverty, racism, fewer rights, the lot. 52% did. That’s democracy innit?
@DeborahFSussex
@mattuthompson
It is. All part of the “hostile environment” policy.
Nothing new sadly. Those poor people!!!
And Visas?? Shocking they even need them.
@JolyonMaugham
He obviously wants to distance himself quite literally from Remain.
Not to be in the HOC on one of the probably most important days during his political career, seems utterly irresponsible.
Not up to the job?
@JamesMelville
Yep.
People in village close to me are having barbecue parties. One rented a bouncy castle. All the children on it together, so I was told this afternoon.
Things like that, plus 15.000 people a day coming in via Heathrow unchecked,is not going to make things better anytime soon.
@PeoplesMomentum
@EmilyThornberry
The more you behave like this BBC, the more I admire Diana Abbott and the way she copes with the lies and half truths thrown at her. She is amazing.
@piersmorgan
Australia style deal!
=Lockdown
+masks
+closing borders
+testing people with symptoms
+testing people without symptoms
+tracking/tracing
+sufficient financial support, for those staying at home even before they have test result
+proper quarantine
That works !
@bbclaurak
Nonsense Laura Kuenssberg! There was nowhere else big enough.140+ journalists turned up! And request came too late, nobody had foreseen the angry Brits! Please tell the truth, please give us the unadultered facts. This is not helping. It is devisive and deliberately untruthful.
@glover_susan
@matthewdmarsden
All of Victoria wearing them! Everywhere outside the house!
Always! city as well as countryside.
Result zero cases! Already for 16 days.
Reason this is possible: Great social cohesion and trust in their government.
@SaulStaniforth
Largest IDF bombardment this century, but IDF spokesman isn’t aware??? He hasn’t noticed? Where is he speaking from? Parallel universe?
@Haggis_UK
@cirian75
“Less of the insults please… “
What insult???
Totally uncalled for remark from this Sky person.
I listened a few times as couldn’t quite believe he said this.
@RobertLindsay
@SocialistAnyDay
I vividly remember being liberated by US soldiers in 1945 after the hunger winter in NL. Ending fascist rule. They were our heroes.
No longer sadly. It’s now the reverse. They changed sides. How on earth did this happen …I despair.
@andrealeadsom
Please have a look at the footage.
Frightening? No, nonsense, utter rubbish.
Please don’t say stuff like this, it is just divisive and serves no other purpose.

You should inform yourself a bit better. Sir Henry Wood initiated the Proms amongst other things to introduce European composers to the British Public, as there was little know about them here. He loved their music. EU flags are very fitting in this context.
So the UK had the highest single day death rate in the world yesterday, a staggering 646 people died of covid and no uk news agencies reporting it including the state broadcaster
@BBCNews
questions really need to be asked

#ToryCovidDisaster
@SolidEvidence
Never go out, but had to pick up something from used furniture shop, and fill car up. Lots of people at both places. Only one wearing a mask (FFP3)… I felt like a alien.
Will remain an alien…
Someone captured Putin on video during the pre-recording of him in an emptied church protected by his body guards. This footage was then broadcast as "live" on Russian state propaganda TV, sprinkled into the actual footage of Easter services.
@redsarah99
@MahaElias1
The utter sadness of it all.
Powerful and heartbreaking speech from Gerald Kaufman. He would not be welcome in today’s Labour Party. Just let that sink in too.
@OnnMel
Just heard you might vote with the Tories tomorrow. Can you please, please, not vote for this so called deal tomorrow. It will inevitably lead to no-deal. Never trust
#Liar
Johnson.
It will harm the most vulnerable in our society.
@JolyonMaugham
The result is shocking. And made possible by something VVD/Rutte said a few months ago. Think most people will agree on that. But PR has at least saved NL from getting an ultra right PM.
No one wants to work with Wilders. So will be another coalition which is quite normal in NL
@andrealeadsom
I do agree, the police were doing a great job in London today. Friendly and helpful. But as to keeping you safe?.
Just take a look at the footage. There was no need whatsoever. No threats. Maybe in your imagination as you might feel guilty about something.
@FenCoul
When we first moved to the UK I was in awe of all the charities, until I realised they were an absolute necessity as social security and state pension was so much lower than in NL. Now the situation is even worse.
Quite an eye opener.
@AndrewKnight226
I am baffled that Cummings is now in charge of our government ..I am confused..but on a lighter note;I was in London today and the mood was so cheerful and so determined.I am far more optimistic now.Spoke to loads of different people, all with a common goal.Yippee.

No lorry drivers, no fruit pickers. Transition period ended, 31/7, so EU citizens have gone home, not wanting to return ever, (obviously). Stock piles depleted.
@TedUrchin
@BorisJohnson
No, I never believed it.
Have wondered ever since.
Also wonder about his dog, his girlfriend and his new born son. What has happened to them?
