WHAT KEIR WON’T HEAR by @PronouncedAlva Keir Starmer is in trouble. Behind the Prime Minister’s back in the Parliamentary Labour Party, there is now widespread mockery, sarcasm, name-calling and the darkest of gallows humour. MPs are worn down by 16 months of unpopular policies

This is the most informed article article I've read about the #BBC crisis...by Andrew Marr. From a journalistic point of view, It helps if you know where many of the bodies are buried & he certainly does https://t.co/E9VMmM5mUt

Pat McFadden tells today’s Sunday Times about an “opportunity crisis” and a “disease” of worklessness. The crisis is of incentives - work not paying enough relative to welfare. The disease in a broken welfare system - but it’s one he can cure. My take:

Still nearly 3 weeks to go and everything can change of course. But she sounded like someone who has decided to take big, bold decisions, not to try to dodge her way through a less controversial budget… And then intends to stay where she is. Nervous…but determined!

NEW: Just completed a fascinating conversation with the chancellor in Downing Street. Most obvious take is that not only has she decided to raise taxes but it’s likely that income tax will go up. I asked her four times and got absolutely no denial. More at 6 on @LBC

A brilliantly entertaining read from someone who knows more than a bit about politics and the media. Starmer & Co are very much masters of their own misfortune and seem impervious to learning from their errors.
