Into new/old music, film, theatre, art. Does irony a lot. Sociopolitical observer. English/Irish. Charlton Athletic Nil fan. Follows most with a humane outlook.
@BladeoftheS
Mick knows his history.
The Daily Mail was the only British newspaper that supported Hitler. Systematic persecution of Jews had already started at that point.
@furbabygirl
They probably wouldn't have handed £bns over to mates for useless PPE, Track & Trace, and Michelle Mone. Or to the fraudulent furlough scheme and 'Eat Out to Die out'.
I suspect there wouldn't have been people getting pissed in Downing Street and having sex in cupboards either.
@danwootton
I hope you're wrong.
Would love to see Farage holed up in Clacton for the next five years. A public schoolboy and one of the poorest constituencies in the country isn't a match made in heaven.
Be interesting to see how much time he spends in the constituency.
@toryboypierce
@Keir_Starmer
That's pretty desperate even by your standards Patrick.
He held a private meeting with Craig and his family and paid a glowing tribute to him at PMQs.
Still, I suppose the whole essence of a smear is that it has to be untrue.
@LeeAndersonMP_
Terrific bantz
@LeeAndersonMP_
That'll learn 'em!
I notice you self-describe as proud Reclaim MP for Ashfield. In the same way you were once proud Conservative MP for Ashfield and proud Labour counsellor for Ashfield.
Well done you. You just can't buy that sort of integrity.
@danwootton
@GMB
@susannareid100
To be absolutely fair, the sneering gotcha interview is something they pull on every politician, whatever persuasion.
Though if you have candidates that support actual Nazis, there are probably questions to answer.
@danwootton
GB News is broken and corrupt!
It won't give shows to The Green Party, Jeremy Corbyn, George Galloway, Sinn Fein or Plaid Cymru, preferring to have Nigel Farage, Jacob Rees-Mogg and Jim Davidson on all the time.
@LozzaFox
Don't panic Laurence.
There are still around 3,000 churches in London, if you're desperately in need of prayer or quiet meditation. Some of them are quite beautiful, too.
@jonnytrig
It's interesting to note the trigger word in this half-arsed sentence.
He's basically against something that works in a much better way than anything we have in place.
Simply because it's French.
@carolvorders
Even the very dimmest understand that the creative industries have taken a pounding under his watch. It's become very difficult for musicians who aren't at the very top of the pyramid to tour Europe now.
@Louise_katz
@reformparty_uk
Get her down to the GP on Monday. You'll get a referral to a memory clinic and they'll be able to carry out cognitive tests.
@mitsyarty
Your profile indicates you are creative, arty, open-minded.
Yet this post sounds like it's from someone who has been radicalised.
The UK is way less white than when I was young. I lived in Brixton and Stockwell for 20 years. Diverse, interesting, fabulous.
@voteleavedorset
@Nigel_Farage
@reformparty_uk
From everything I've seen on Twitter this week, Reform will form the next government!
Positions in the new government are being lined up for Charlie Pimlico Plumber, Andrew Lloyd Webber, Tim Wetherspoons, Jimmy Savile, Holly Valence and Phil Schofield.
A great new era dawns!
@toryboypierce
@RachelReevesMP
The CEOs of the UK’s very largest FTSE 100-size companies tend to avoid taking sides in elections, and have not done so today.
But you knew that.....
@dunstablian
Don't know the basis of your claim.
But Sunak was revealed last week as richer than the King, thanks in part to those juicy government contracts.
What's your actual point though? That there isn't a left wing option you could comfortably vote for?
@darrengrimes_
Well said Darren.
He promised my Aunt who lives in Clacton Billions in investment if she voted for him.
I'm sure he's there to make good on his promises, rather than, as some uncharitable folk have suggested, just to boost his profile with some meaningless photo opps.
@CCHQPress
The CEOs of the UK’s very largest FTSE 100-size companies tend to avoid taking sides in elections, and have not done so today.
But you knew that.....
@SaulStaniforth
Quite the revelation. It's taken them more than 100 years to catch up.
213 Labour MPs receiving £1.8m in donations. Not much, considering self-confessed white supremacist Frank Hester gave £20 million to the Tories and earns more than £500 million a year in government contracts.
@TheBashBish
Two bald men fighting over a comb.
To be fair to Binface, he conducted himself with integrity throughout the campaign. His manifesto was pretty good too, though Londoners aren't yet ready for that sort of radical change.
@addicted2newz
There really won't.
He'll be the curiosity he's always been. A man without responsibility howling at the moon while lining his own pockets.
I hope he wins. I look forward to him living in Clacton (as a man of the people, he surely will) and grafting for his constituents.
@mikemoves12
Well said Mike! It's all been downhill since the Great Reform Act of 1832, when they allowed middle class people a say - but not working class folk, thank God!
I've recently read that they are trying to give women the vote! What do they know?
@tracieo41096854
I've been on Twitter for a couple of months.
This is the most unhinged, bigoted and inaccurate post I've yet seen. And it's a low bar.
Sadly, you don't get a trophy for it.
@Haggis_UK
Rishi is only angry because he missed the boat and wasn't on at 7/1.
And this is a man who loves a flutter. He bet
@piersmorgan
£1,000 at evens that planes would be flying.
He lost. Though he welshed the bet and hasn't coughed up yet.
@EssexPR
It's called diplomacy Adam, you wouldn't understand it.
Diminished as he is, even Farage wouldn't personally attack him. It will play out.
In fairness, if Starmer was asked if Trump was a sexual predator, he would have given a similarly diplomatic response.
@miriam_cates
Where does it say they’d be imprisoned?
Seems a bit harsh. Especially when someone like your old mucker Michelle Mone can get away scot-free after thieving £35million from the public purse.
@TheEnglishRebel
@RishiSunak
@Conservatives
My Dad did 37 years in the army. Worked for charities after he retired. Found beds for ex-military. Loads of help available, though not if you had a drink/drug problem.
If you think Farage has anything in common with working class blokes that joined up, you've been gulled.
@danwootton
A lovely lady by all accounts. A journalist friend of mine went to Thailand, I think, for a visit to an elephant sanctuary with her. Great company and an exceptionally warm human being.
@dunstablian
I assume your stance is consistent regarding the removal of the tax break on private schools. Right?
They are not actual charities, after all.
@PaulKirkby3
Jesus was something of a lefty himself though, wasn't he? All that woke nonsense about he who is without sin casting the first stone and the difficulty of a rich man getting into the Kingdom of Heaven. Dangerous stuff, the New Testament.
@kelvmackenzie
Brilliant to see Labour getting tough on crime, isn't it?
We need more of this. Post Office heads, Michelle Mone and Thames water bosses will hopefully all be bricking it.
@JamesCranworth
Fair enough grift James.
Though only around 18% of the UK population is actually on Twitter. And many are interested in music, tv arts - the important stuff rather than politics.
So actually moving 'posts' to 'votes' is a bit tricky, even if you post fantasy figures.
@kelvmackenzie
You listened to Laura Kuenssberg and seen the Question Time line ups recently? Remember, Andrew 'Brillo Pad' Neil was the BBC poster boy last time.
The BBC is much more than news coverage, lost on most. Great drama, documentaries and unparalleled choice of radio. All ad free.
@JonathanPieNews
Looked like a draw to me. Though listen to anyone from the spin room and they'll tell you their man knocked it out of the park.
Best bit was the audience laughter over National Service. Sunak looked a bit upset about that and his face visibly dropped.
@Africanchap
@OWS1892
He was the only one in the family without any talent and there's only so far nepotism can take you. But he loves attention and in this sphere it's relatively easy to attract.
@Councillorsuzie
Always great to see your comments Sue.
When the Conservatives are returned to government on 5th July with a thumping majority, they will have you to thank.
It's your compassion, insight and intelligence that sets you apart.
@darrengrimes_
That's not a flag though, is it
#craftywank
?
The flag ban was brought in by Johnson when he was mayor. Any tweets you can retrieve from back in the day to demonstrate you're not an absolute shill?
@danwootton
In the alternative, he's been on there 36 times.
Not bad considering he represents a party that has never actually won a parliamentary seat.
@MatthewStadlen
You won't top Bev Turner describing anyone as a 'bit thick'. It's a family trait, as my daughter was at school with her boy Croyde.
I'm guessing she isn't a member of the National Irony Society.
@sophielouisecc
If people are told by media shills that this happens in London every day, in every neighbourhood, in a city of 9 million people, they'd be triggered, I guess.
Even though that's not the reality. Lived here 40 years. Never seen or been a victim of a crime. Not newsworthy.
@Councillorsuzie
I see you're not bitter much. Well done. It takes magnanimity to recover from a crushing election defeat.
So Labour were distributing Reform leaflets at the last London Mayoral election?
You made that up in your head, didn't you?
@toryboypierce
@RishiSunak
@Keir_Starmer
They’d better keep Sunak well clear of that latest Spectator analysis Patrick. £3,000 extra under the Conservatives.
A real ‘The worm has turned’ moment.
@JamesCranworth
Can you expand on your 'wokery is out of control' assertion?
I haven't noticed it much in my neck of the woods. Is it to do with organic food?
@EssexPR
You can't wear completely odd shoes. They either match or they don't. Helena Bonham-Carter wore odd shoes once too. It didn't seem to hinder her day-job abilities.
@Wokewaster
Sounds like Reform will win easily and form the next Government Steve.
I'm interested to know who will be Chancellor, Home Secretary, Foreign Secretary, etc.
You'd surely need someone with a bit of experience. Or will Nigel do it all?
@lukerobertblack
By all accounts, his father was a skilled self-employed tradesman. Reason enough for you to look down your nose at him.
It's not just Labour that mine 'humble origins'. Thatcher couldn't keep quiet about her 'shopkeeper' roots and Major spoke about his poor Brixton days.
@DMinghella
With my 94 year old Mum in A&E last week. 36 hour wait to get admitted to a ward. I counted 20 trolleys in the corridor waiting to get into a bay. Lots of alcohol related admissions (with police) and mental health issues. System needs a complete overhaul.
@JonathanPieNews
He never kissed a helmet or anything else. Never met anyone, or had sex with them.
But handed over $130,000 to hush them, just in case he had.
You can't be too careful.
@Miss_Snuffy
If they believed so strongly in this policy, you would have thought they might have mentioned it before now.
It smacks of desperation. Or the sort of thing dreamt up at Michael Gove's leaving do by enthusiastic revellers.
@danwootton
A brilliant family Dan. I just hope they can afford the private schools once that tax break has gone. It would be awful for those children to have to mix with normal kids.
@WestminsterWAG
@afneil
You lost me at 'Daily Mail'. Full marks for coming up with a slew of imaginary taxes. CGT on houses, meat tax, windows tax, cat tax etc.
Though if rumours that Labour will tax Branston pickle are correct, I'll be on the plane to Spain with my old mate Charlie Pimlico Plumber.
@mitsyarty
I find being 'anti' anything is a rather draining outlook, especially concerning skin colour, though it clearly works for many. I prefer to try and be 'pro' things where possible.
@prodnose
Actually a great result tonight.
It will hopefully put a lid on all those triumphal “It’s coming home” headlines.
And ground the team before what is a very difficult, and for us previously impossible, tournament to win.
So, here's the thing I still don't understand about the timing of the election.
If Sunak's convinced that better times are ahead (he has all the forecasts) and the economy is about to go 'gangbusters', surely you'd wait until the Autumn?
@thecarolemalone
@MayorofLondon
As a ‘journalist’ Carole, the absolute minimum would be to check out the story.
Nothing to see here. The so-called ban of flags on cabs was introduced under Johnson. The reasons behind it have never been challenged, until now. Strange that.
People rumoured to be leaving the UK if Labour wins the next election......
Rishi Sunak
Charlie Pimlico Plumber
Andrew Lloyd Webber
Tim Wetherspoons
Nigel Farage
Jimmy Savile
Jeremy Clarkson
Dan Wootton
Katie Hopkins
Tommy Robinson
Bobby George
Paul Nuttall of the UKIPs
@LozzaFox
He is the establishment. It's largely gone unnoticed by political commentators that he also served a term as President. Nothing much changed under his stewardship.
@Anna_Soubry
I think this policy was whisked up on the back of a fag packet. Some economists estimate the cost at around £8bn.
But in election terms it's clever (or devious, as there's no intention to implement it). It stokes the Brexit divisions and shores up support against the Reforms.
@carolvorders
What might you expect from Hitler's favourite newspaper? A copy was always flown out to him in the early days of his dictatorship. He used to read the glowing tributes to him avidly, before leafing through the comparatively woke 'Der Stürmer'.
@Wokewaster
@reformparty_uk
Great company to keep. Currently Russia and Belarus are the only two countries in Europe to opt out of this agreement. Wonder why that is?
@JohnnyMercerUK
Well said Sir Major-General Johnny Mercer VC, GC, MM, DSO, NVQ.
Although a word to the wise: Don't go on about donations. Firstly, Farage does it all the time when he's swindling his followers. Second, folk just think you're hauling it to the bookies to put it on a 'dead cert'.
