So, my 17 ( nearly 18) yo is off to Uni in Sept, hoping to study medicine. Discovered he's been learning sign language online as he realised how hard it must be for deaf people to communicate with their doctors when they're in masks. He's showing me the way.
GCSE's A*-As in all subjects, Grade 8 piano, national citizen service, multiple work experiences, multiple medical school interviews, firm offer to med school, learned sign language. Exam shambles later, offer lost. I love my son, standing by him all the way, he will be fine
Just witnessed a patient being asked to produce proof of identity before being registered at a GP. I reminded the receptionist that this is not a prerequisite given that some people have no fixed abode & just as deserving of equitable access to a GP. Sigh..

Huge thanks to the flight crew on

Social prescribing has brought a major breakthrough for me as a GP. When the tears are not due to clinical depression but the break down of networks, of security, of stability and so much that's taken for granted; it's great to be able to "prescribe" connection & support.
Can't hold back the tears this morning. In another part of the world, - a man is fading away due to
#Covid19
, he looks 40ish, no beds, no oxygen, sheer panic in his father's face, his brother trying to be his doctor,my heart breaks for them - Thank you
