@Steven_Rose_ I visited Westside at 12. @underthebar held 3 seminars in my Dad's garage in the early 00s. Then I went into film for a decade, ended up making a strength documentary and realized strength and performance were more fun.

@Steven_Rose_ a1) my ⚾️career ended due to an overuse injury so I wanted to go into Strength & Conditioning when it became a doable career to help prevent other athletes from having a similar fate as I did.

@Steven_Rose_ Grew up with a dad that was a solid power lifter in the 80’s/90’s, so I grew up lifting. Watching @corygfitness squat every day on IG is what got me interested in research and why I switched majors to kines. Then from the research side I just realized I just enjoyed coaching more

@Steven_Rose_ A1) Was always something I was interested in, but a camp at Iowa under Doyle changed my entire outlook and that jump started my road. #ironspeedchat

@Steven_Rose_ I fell in love with the weight room, the results, and progress during high school and college soccer. Ended up going to grad school to be an AT and realized that I had more of a passion for the athletic performance side of it. #IronSpeedChat

@Steven_Rose_ Grew up with a mom as an aerobic instructor and because of the impact weight lifting had in my mental health as a high school/college athlete #ironspeedchat

@Steven_Rose_ Dr. Steven Kimpel at my undergrad (BYU Idaho) was the reason I wanted to try and get into it, then my first internship with the University of Utah, credit to Cody Lockling for taking a shot with me and mentoring me. I’ve loved it since Kimpel’s class. #ironspeedchat

@Steven_Rose_ Tibial Fracture in the 8th grade. Wasn’t the same football player until my dad introduced me to @Hopefit1 . He got me to trust my leg again and unlocked physical potential that I didn’t know I had up until that point.

@Steven_Rose_ A1) it was something that had always sat in the back of my mind as a profession I’d like. Got to meet and learn from @MonteSparkman one summer and the rest is history.

@Steven_Rose_ Dad was an engineer by day and bodybuilder by night, we grew up in a powerhouse gym in Worcester, MA and gramps was a Jack LaLanne junky. Track & Field in HS/College and that's where I fell in love with the weightroom and knew I'd always be around sports.

@Steven_Rose_ A1) a series of unexpected events. Oly lifting in high school, bf in college who encouraged a change in major (husband now), internship that led to grad school and GA position, a failed attempt at the medical side of ex phys, cheer, cheer coach, and teaching #ironspeedchat

@Steven_Rose_ A1) Always had to bust my ass in the weight room to be big/strong enough to get on the field. Went from a 185 lb. High School senior LB running 4.7 to playing in the Big 10 weighing 235 running 4.6 on Pro Day. Started studying & writing my own programs at 17 years old.

@Steven_Rose_ A1: I fell in love with the weight room as young teenager. From there it became a passion of mine as an athlete, and when I got my first teaching job at a small rural school, running the weight room and summer training program kind of just fell into my lap. #ironspeedchat

@Steven_Rose_ Found my passion in martial arts at a young age and wanted to learn everything about all of them. This made me want to learn how to get stronger/faster for fighting and lead me to find I have a talent for teaching. Got to college & found out I can do the same for other athletes.

@Steven_Rose_ @CaptainMariner9 told me really early on that a good HC needs to be there for the weight training every day and preferably be the one in charge. Started studying S&C and prepping for the PE CSET not long after. It’s been a fun ride.

@Steven_Rose_ During the end of my college playing I realized I loved the weight room and prep more than the actual game itself at that point. Also I never had a great strength program from jr high to college. I wanted to give back so kids had what I never did. How corny that may sound

@Steven_Rose_ Listening to @MashElite Barbell Life podcast with guest Keegan of @BrandXMethod while mowing the lawn. I had the degree but didn’t really know what I wanted to do with it. Inspiration hit and I’m now in my 3rd year as an S&C coach in the high school setting.
