WINNING THE POPULAR VOTE AND THE ELECTORAL COLLEGE AGAINST AN INCUMBENT - WHO HEADS A WHOLE APPARATUS BENT ON VOTER SUPPRESSION! - IS ACTUALLY A REPUDIATION, AND A MANDATE
@TheLSD
@IvankaTrump
This is not to shame *ANYONE* for getting an abortion at any time. This is to shame
@IvankaTrump
for her hypocrisy and corruption, enabling and whitewashing her father to get him elected and then profiting off his presidency.

The whole lionizing of Amy Coney Barrett as a working mother of school-age children is so false, and do you know how I know? Because working mothers of school-age children are FUCKING DROWNING RIGHT NOW and the GOP couldn't care less.
"The Academy loved 'The Wolf of Wall Street,' which got nominated for best director and best adapted screenplay (among others) in 2014, but somehow, something changed when the women were the wolves instead of the playthings." Mmmmhmmmm re: "Hustlers"
As a Jewish woman on Rosh Hashanah, I am extremely moved to see this hashtag gaining steam for an iconic and legendary Jewish woman, Supreme Court Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg:
#MayHerMemoryBeARevolution
You know what would’ve been great? If all the Democratic candidates had coordinated for a Super Bowl ad that said, we’re all great, any one of us would be a great president, and we will all support whoever is the nominee to beat Donald Trump. And also no kids in cages.
I hope that Dr. Ford will reconsider and testify before the Senate Judiciary Committee on Monday. It is my understanding that the Committee has offered to hold either a public or a private session, whichever would make her more comfortable.
If you are turned away at the polls, your response is:
“GIVE ME A PROVISIONAL BALLOT WITH A RECEIPT AS REQUIRED BY LAW!”
(Poll worker friend says she’s handed out a lot of provisional ballots already.)
FYI and pass it on via
@NathalieMolina
But the Constitution does not give the Senate the power to remove the president from office and ban him from this year’s ballot simply for actions that are inappropriate. 7/15
I cannot *believe* anyone is questioning that a woman was fired for being pregnant IN THE FREAKING 70s!! I’m so over the constant gaslighting of women. WE LIVE IN OUR EXPERIENCES. FUCK YOU. WE KNOW.
@dansaltzstein
Oh here’s another one, from summer 2020 - in Walgreen’s with boyfriend. “Celebration” comes on. We both start singing as we shop. Pass the security guard, she’s singing too. Round an aisle corner as a guy with a dog throws his head back on “what’s your pleasure!” All masked. NYC!

Katie Miller, press secretary for Mike Pence, quoted in Jacob Soboroff's new book, Separated: "DHS sent me to the border to see the separations for myself -- to try to make me more compassionate -- but it didn't work."
Nancy Pelosi: "Today, I'm announcing the House of Representatives is moving forward with an official impeachment inquiry. I'm directing our six committees to proceed with their investigations under that umbrella ... The president must be held accountable."
I cannot believe that Hamas TURNED DOWN A CEASEFIRE DEAL and said "Nope! We'd rather keep hostages and have war!" and S I L E N C E.
Where are the NGOs?? Where are the ceasefire activists??? Where are the U.N. demands for Hamas to agree to a ceasefire and return the hostages???
Letterman's Netflix show will launch on Jan. 12, 2018, and it's called "My Next Guest Needs No Introduction." Six monthly eps of 60 minutes each w/ guest incl. Malala Yousafzai, Tina Fey, Jay-Z and President Obama. (Is it me or does it feel like just a weird time for this?)
This tweet is advocating domestic terrorism: "activities that appear to be intended to intimidate or coerce a civilian population" and "to influence the policy of a government by intimidation or coercion" - 18 U.S. Code § 2331 (5)(b)(i) and (5)(b)(ii).
This is explicit.
Lots of issues with Amy Coney Barrett, and the sham hearing underway. But a refusal to say, YES THE PRESIDENT SHOULD COMMIT TO A PEACEFUL TRANSFER OF POWER should be disqualifying on its face.
MEDIA: Do not do that thing where you pretend there are two sides here. It is PATENTLY RIDICULOUS to rush a confirmation hearing through before the election. Do not pretend otherwise.
"We’re going to set this county on fire" is a direct quote from someone in this piece. This title could have been anything, like - "They'd rather destroy their country than watch it change." Instead, always with the sympathy.
They rammed thru a judge instead of looking after Americans during an urgent economic crisis in a pandemic. They could have even done it *at the same time* but they don’t care if people live or die. Including their supporters. It’s honestly so fucked up.
Charles Barkley on CNN: Dems have taken the black vote and the poor vote for granted for way too long, and it's time to actually earn both. Hope that clip goes viral.

Chief Justice Roberts is likely to order a full investigation involving the FBI into the reported leak of a draft majority opinion, reports
@JanCBS
— as some question if it will throw the Supreme Court’s legitimacy into question.
Despite messy results, the Iowa caucuses scrambled the 2020 campaign, with Pete Buttigieg and Bernie Sanders pulling ahead and Joe Biden trailing in fourth place. How will this outcome affect the dynamics on today’s debate stage?
Is it ethical, or even legal, for a United States president to use a summit meeting to flog his resort and then host an official event at it, all to his personal profit?
“The constitution is a framework for lawmaking, not an agreement to sacrifice our children’s lives to a corrupt and greedy gun lobby.”

“Whoever the nominee is, their campaign is going to have to come to terms with the intense misogyny so many female voters have dealt with — and understand that it’s an issue we care deeply about.”
@JessicaValenti
I feel all this and appreciate you
This is ridiculous. So-called One Million Moms got 25K signatures on a petition which is a blip in real social media standards. Also this ad is great. Also fuck off.
Matt Lauer is reportedly seeking a $30 million dollar payout from NBC News. And here he is in the Hamptons today handing criminal defense attorney Eddie Burke Jr an envelope.
"At least one had a semi-automatic rifle and 11 Molotov cocktails. At least one, unlike nearly every other right-wing rioter photographed that day, wore a mask that obscured his face."
Again: WHY IS TRUMP STILL PRESIDENT
I spent a lot of time covering the GOP, which led to this look back at the historical roots of its racism-as-electoral strategy. Excited for bigger projects like this—would love to write a book. 4/
Kelly Loeffler saying Rev. Warnock is “out of step with Georgia’s values.” Surely not the values of the most recent election results.. also pretty rich from someone who was **APPOINTED** to the seat.
The CPAC stage resembles a known SS Nazi insignia. Generously, let's assume the design was in error. They should immediately release an apology and change up the stage. Not doing so will convey the most reprehensible intent.
A lot of comparing Trump to a kindergartner tonight. Well, my kid is a kindergartner. And today she bravely walked into a big new school for the first time, wearing a mask. Trump wishes he had the fortitude of our brave, sweet kindergartners.
THE NOTE: The president is displaying a new tone and a new level of engagement, after aides and allies have pleaded with him to recognize the gravity of the moment,

THERE IS NEVER A SHIFT IN TONE. THE TONE HAS BEEN FUCKING CONSISTENT. THE TONE IS THE ACTION. THE TONE IS THE INACTION. THE TONE IS THE CRUELTY IS THE POINT. FUCK THE TONE.
The notion that last night constituted a shift in tone is stunning. Besides the blatant theater--rewriting history-- most of the speeches (like Bondi) were more blistering than night 1. The reporting makes me think that many in the media haven't learned the lessons from 2016.
Note that Kavanaugh has known about this as long as we all have - for a week and a half - and has yet to make a public comment asking people to stand down. Ditto Grassley, McConnell, Collins, Corker, Manchin - any of them.
