NEW: Lawyers for 8 men are racing to get emergency help from a judge before the Trump administration deports them *tonight* to South Sudan. A judge in DC gave them a 1 hour reprieve. w/ @joshgerstein .

MOSS has formally transfered the case to Judge Murphy's court. The question is if he can take it up and consider emergency relief in time for the deportation tonight -- and if he will go there, considering the Supreme Court's rebuke on Thursday.

The hearing is over. Moss essentially said he couldn't help but would send case to MA. The lawyers for the men aren't sure tehy can raise a judge on July 4th in time to even ask for relief ahead of 7pm deportation.

MOSS has grave concerns about facilitating the deportation of people to potentially life threatening circumstances in South Sudan, but he thinks his hands are tied by the Supreme Court's stay yesterday. Still, he says the SCOTUS rulings were devoid of reasoning so it's not.

Moss granted a 1 hour stay to give lawyers for the men a chance to file their emergency claim in Massachusetts. Lawyer for Trump administration says they will appeal to the Supreme Court immediatelty.

HAPPENING NOW: Emergency proceedings are underway related to the potential deportation of 8 men to South Sudan before Judge Randy Moss in Washington. The men are teed up to be transfered at 7pm tonight. But Moss is sending the case to MA, where he says it should be handled.
