Heavy social media use makes people meaner and more cynical over time. People get detached from their humanity and forget they're engaging with other humans. They start doing and saying stuff they wouldn't in real life. I've observed this anecdotally over two decades. It's one

Yes, and you do this by either buying the adjacent land (as is your right) or by building where no one else is. Not by creating laws making it so you’re the only person who can do what you want to do.

Deep down, you understand NIMBYism. If you owned this, would you want a bunch of people moving in around you messing it up for everyone? It wouldn’t even matter how rich they were https://t.co/jRf9op1BWW

Losing a child is one of the most agonizing experiences a person can go through – as is dying oneself as a child. The decline of infant mortality rates over the last century has to be one of the greatest humanitarian achievements of our species.

A massive study involving more than 14,000 police officers found that implicit bias training had no effect on “racial and ethnic disparities in stops, arrests, summonses, frisks, searches, and/or use of force.”

I think a thing companies should do is hire people whose entire job is to just sit in meetings and occasionally point out something funny or ridiculous that people just said. It would do two things: 1 - Make meetings more tolerable 2 - Make people less insufferable

People who send voice memos instead of texts aren’t self-conscious enough. Oh, you don’t need to overthink, type out, read, and re-read what you’re going to say (and still manage to send a typo) every single time like the rest of us? Ok, you confident weirdos.

it's important to remember that social media isn't reality: no one is actually as depressed as they are on twitter, as attractive and fun as they are on instagram, or as harmoniously following the principles of xi jinping thought as they are on tiktok

Grades and GPA weren't invented to help students learn and improve. They were created to make the lives of administrators and employers easier. Here's a brief history of grades and their downsides. ➡️➡️➡️

Having a baby is such good emotional regulation practice. There’s crying and you feel frustrated but taking it out on a baby is silly so you have to figure out how to just move the emotions.
