Am I the only insane person that tells people exactly when I’ll be somewhere?
When someone texts you they are running late, double the time they give you. If they say they’ll be there in 5, make that 10; if 10, it’ll be 20; if 20, count on 40. For more advice see my book Excellent Advice for Living https://t.co/CR2aTORVgZ

Part of why I like Taipei is almost no one visits here except people from Korea and Japan People will visit 10 countries in Asia and skip Taiwan
🇨🇳 Chinese tourism is 95% domestic: this means most of the tourists you see in China are not foreigners but just other Chinese Even if we'd visit the most tourist places in China, we'd see maybe 1 Westerner (if we're lucky) vs. 10,000 Chinese Which honestly makes it a more fun

seeing notebookLM synthesize info into decks better than 95% of humans is so wild also makes me even sadder I didn't leave consulting earlier - most of the work feeling like a blur looking back non-fiction book writing without a personal side is cooked too

It’s always weird to interact with scoreboard people. Those who judge their own lives by how much income they are producing. It doesn’t take me long to say something that triggers them or inspires them to give me advice on how to make money.

Here is everything you need to know if you want to throw your first house party Source: I wrote a book about this (The 2-Hour Cocktail Party) and have taught hundreds of first-time hosts (1) you must collect RSVPs. The top fear of any new host is that nobody will show up —

With The 2-Hour Cocktail Party, you'll make new friends, boost your career, and leave everyone asking. "When's your next party?"

I feel like this isn’t even true anymore. Real status is the very nice home and the elite schools you send your kids to. Many are still playing those games
The absolute worst way to try to increase your status is to jump on the treadmill of acquiring luxury goods - watches, cars, designer clothes, etc The highest form of status is to opt out entirely and not give a shit about any of these things.

I used live translate and AirPods to participate in an event in Chinese today It’s still very rough but it was good enough for me to follow along, reference other people’s ideas and understand the jokes (with a 5 second lag) This is the worst it will ever be. This is cool

If you have an audience and you’re not hyping up other people all the time what are you even doing

Glad it worked out for Marc
29 years I debated whether I could afford to spend $50K to buy the domain name I really wanted for Netflix ( https://t.co/0WbsYurBLM). I decided that was crazy money. Netflix it was. Now they can afford to pay 70 Billion for something. Who woulda thunk.
