A young John Candy did regular bits on my dad's late 70s CBC TV show. Candy once walked past me backstage in a Superman costume and mussed my 12 year old's hair, saying "how's it going, kid?" Mundane perhaps, but meant the world to me then and still does today.

I'm in Gatineau, Quebec, though moved here after the 1998 ice storm that took out power for three weeks. We lose power for a few days every year due to storms and tree falls. I have no advice you probably haven't thought of already. Feel your pain, though!
