As I leave Cabinet and finish my time as Canada's Minister of Agriculture and Agri-Food, I’m still just as hopeful as I was as a young farmer, and I truly believe that the future is bright for Canadian agriculture.

Wonderful to connect with my American counterpart @SecRollins today. The relationship between our two countries is vitally important, especially when it comes to agriculture, and I stressed that unjustified measures would hurt consumers on both sides of the border.

I am disappointed with China’s decision to implement tariffs on Canadian canola oil and meal, peas, fish, seafood and pork. Our farmers and fishers deliver the very best products to Canadians and folks around the world. We will always be there to defend them.
