im literally working on all 3 of these rn lol: automated robotics design, end-to-end interpretable programmable model and robotics foundational model (VLA tokenisation). will hopefully be out by May.
Jeff Dean and Noam Shazeer are among the godfathers of modern AI at Google. Most interesting ideas from the recent Dwarkesh podcast:. 1. If AI can automate chip design and a "million automated researchers" can generate novel model architectures, AI development might continue to.

Half the people complaining about this are extremely, incredibly out of touch with how competitive top college admissions is now. High GPA, SAT and ECs is barely table stakes for "multiple top colleges". So obvious they've never even applied to top colleges, let alone gotten in.
His GPA score is 97.3%, SAT score is 1560, enrolled in a top high school, does tons of extracurricular work. He was rejected by multiple colleges. They call this equity and inclusion.

And yet you leave out a full minute of context, showing that Miyazaki was disgusted by a completely different technology made to generate grotesque body horror. From 8 years ago.
Since this utter garbage is trending, we should take a look at what Hayao Miyazaki, the founder of Studio Ghibli, said about machine created art.

my Vietnamese mom said stuff like this when i talked about ADHD, then she read about ADHD symptoms in undiagnosed adult women, started taking medication, then cried about how she'd missed out on being normal her whole life.
One of the greatest evils of my 90s childhood was the sedation and casual drugging of young boys for acting like boys in a school system built for little girls. And it’s only now that we’re finally allowed to ask questions. Decades too late.

The #NobelPrize in Physics 2024 for Hopfield & Hinton turns out to be a Nobel Prize for plagiarism. They republished methodologies developed in #Ukraine and #Japan by Ivakhnenko and Amari in the 1960s & 1970s, as well as other techniques, without citing the original inventors.

perhaps i'm dumb, but i hit far fewer math walls once i started using AI to explain the concept to me multiple times in multiple rephrasings with examples. a big chunk of technical education is bottlenecked by slightly unintuitive rephrasing presented rigidly.
Grad school was where I first had the experience of maxing out my cognitive horsepower. I was one of the dumbest EE majors. There was a very clear hierarchy. [Generalizing heavily] the EE majors weren’t as smart as the stat majors, who weren’t as smart as the math majors. There.

my mom (who's a university professor) did something interesting last year: she assigned her students to give chatgpt an essay question, have it write a paper, and then proofread/fact check it. nearly every single student in that class came out of that assignment anti-chatgpt.

@aoi_hjalmar you are an incompetent dumbass, incapable of grasping the central point. Harvard literally gets TWICE AS MANY VALEDICTORIANS applying as there are spots in the damn school. The acceptance rate for valedictorians is 25%, ofc valedictorians get rejected. tf you talking about.

R1's extremely strong RL results were largely achieved without extensive human data. The CEO of a human data company has an incentive to downplay the effectiveness of Deepseek, no?.
Billionaire and Scale AI CEO Alexandr Wang: DeepSeek has about 50,000 NVIDIA H100s that they can't talk about because of the US export controls that are in place.

@GrantSlatton they're just bad by default. most people aren't good at it by default since they're not used to speaking to an audience, and most orgs just don't select for this. In gov bureaucracy there's practically zero selection pressure to celebrate wins well, since it'll never affect money.

3.5 sonnet -> 3.7 feels like giving a straight-A, well-adjusted, valedictorian, class president Asian American girl a bit too much adderall bc her parents wanted her to make the math olympiad team.
As a code assistant for a non-swe, I find 3.7 much worse compared to 3.5. Jumps ahead too much, assumes too much, more focused on outputting an entire codebase in response to every prompt vs. being a true collaborative assistant and verifying what I want.

Min-p has received an ICLR Oral award!. This is my first ML paper as a business undergrad with no CS or research background. I want people to do research they care about, regardless of their background, and I'm hoping to write a detailed guide soon! LMK what questions you have!
Hi! Guess the secret’s out: Introducing Min P, a token sampling method for LLMs. Using < 10 lines of code, we achieve 10-20% better results on GSM8K and GPQA vs Top P at temperature=1. Interestingly, reasoning on GPQA and creative writing ability *improves* as temperature > 1 🧵

With AI, leftists have a chance to full send UBI or a massive welfare state, but instead they've chosen to be reactionaries defending to death an exploitative labour and IP system that largely doesn't even benefit them.
sad to see the death of the artistic profession, which before this point was a highly viable career path that famously paid a lot of money.

Entropy handling mitigates hallucination. Hallucination occurs when a model is uncertain but is compelled to output a low-prob answer token and continue its answer anyway, pretending as if it were fact. Entropy/uncertainty offers a chance to self-correct.

Do not touch LinkedIn Apply. For inbound, work on projects w others and post about them. Skip HR, go straight to execs/employees. For outbound, spend 1-2 days working on a demo, or reuse prev projects related to the product/role. Do this for several months for a few places.
At the age of 20 i applied to 500 entry level jobs and had ONE interview, shortly after i asked my friend if his dad had any space for hire and i had a job the same week. Life is actually so fucking rigged.

Please @AnthropicAI & @OpenAI, add min_p sampling (and temp > 1) to your APIs. It'd make your models so much better. It's basically a free quality boost.

"the main reason is Cursor need to be told what files to look at, while Windsurf indexes your entire codebase". ??? Cursor has codebase index, a docs lookup + indexing feature and even web search that all work fine for searches ???
Not everyday you wake up to a shoutout from @ycombinator 🤩. Jared Friedman explains why founders are switching to Windsurf:

$5 million in cash at age 35 is enough to live a decent upper middle class life for the rest of your life. but you cannot retire, you still need to generate some cash flow which is fine. if you want to live an upper class life, ie business class flights all the time, nice hotels,.

@ChaseBrowe32432 If you go into a line of work 100% transactionally then don't be surprised if employers treat you as a 100% transactional applicant. In that case, you better have a lot else going for you to stand out. I doubt consulting and finance applicants expect niceness from employers.
