We all assume that hidden search terms waste money, but I wanted proof. So I analyzed $20 million in spend, 14 million clicks, across 933 campaigns to see for myself. Turns out they do and to a staggering degree!. For every $1 in ads you buy, Google siphons $0.85 in forced.

We analyzed $20,000,000 in Google Ads spend to see the difference in performance between visible and hidden search terms. The results are absolutely brutal. Google is forcing massive inefficiencies for brands advertising on the platform. Across the board, hidden terms had:.📈

What. A. Week. Everything: epic highs with Prime Day, surf scaling, pages and personal profiles being restricted, pipeline filling up with great brands, fire creative from the team, ad rejections. And then you get a message like this, not the first we've had this month either

I want to surface some of the comments Ginny has been providing, so they're not getting buried in comment threads re: hidden search terms. I also want to say that I appreciate your engagement on this. I think one of the most frustrating parts is just the general lack of clarity.

@CJSlattery Hi Collin, The threshold applies to every query the same way. Any search term that is not surfaced in the report simply has not been searched enough times across all Google searches to meet the privacy threshold. It either meets the privacy threshold and gets reported or it.

I appreciate the engagement that is being generated around my post, but I still have questions. Why is the "hidden for privacy" tranche so poorly performing. If the reason they hide it is for privacy, we can assume that the hidden terms are almost entirely long tail. If they

Hiring an agency should cost brands nothing. Absolutely 0. The value-add of hiring a good agency should always more than compensate for the cost of the retainer. It makes sense that there is some hesitation but let's be honest, every month you delay:.- You're leaving.

Something must be in the water this year, because I don't think I've ever had as big a run of getting punished for doing the right thing than I have in the last 3 months. It has been wild.

One of the hardest things about living abroad as an American in these times is the questions. The “what the fuck did you guys do?” Looks and comments you get. And it wasn’t always like this. But it’s the first thing that comes up when you travel as an American.

Not going to lie, the fact that the @Delta One lounge at JFK can have a 20 minute line is pretty embarrassing. It’s only for Delta One passengers, they should have known the max potential seats needed and built it to handle that capacity. It should be impossible to be full.

You're likely sitting on a goldmine of vertical content and wasting it. How much did it cost to source and edit all of those creatives for Meta?. Smart brands are flipping vertical footage into horizontal YouTube ads that print money. Slap on sidebars. Layer in captions.

Our creative team doesn't just do statics and stitch video clips together. They can do it ALL. Creative strategy? ✅.Motion graphics? ✅.Animations? ✅. Stitching a bunch of UGC clips together just doesn't cut it anymore. You need a creative team that can do more.

We’ve all met that one marketer or agency. The one who tortured and tortured the numbers until they confessed to the story they wanted to tell 👺. Cherry-picked dates. Convenient attribution windows. KPIs invented out of thin air. Essentially a bullshitter who likely wasted.
