Work life is about being appreciated and having access to good facilities, especially when on call on a Sunday.
The Brewpivacaine Cafe is open 24/7 in our Department funded by Consultants for all Anaesthetic staff.

Not a single sweep at the hospital I worked at today.
No crazy hat competitions.
The tide is turning.
Not a single mention of the race.

I genuinely hope ppl know they can come to my account and feel safe and comfortable here. I don’t care what race,sex or sexuality you are,I only care about that you’re a good person,that’s what defines us and nothing more,we’re one huge family😊😊🙏🏽Ian
I am published! I wrote an article for the wellbeing section of our
@ANZCA
bulletin. I’d like to thank everyone who has supported me and made my Twitter experience so rich and fulfilling.
Special thanks tp
@Nigella_Lawson
for giving me the inspiration.
@LondonAllergy
I am so appalled at the treatment of these professionals and those who ignored their concerns should be made to take responsibility.
I feel so sorry for all the families of these tiny babies, the betrayal is unbearable.
Interesting, in airport yesterday, buying a drink. Woman in airline uniform in front of me presented cashier with some sort of card. Cashier: ‘only pilots can use those’. Woman: ‘yes’, then silence. Eventually woman said ‘I am a pilot’. Cashier.. red-faced. Sexism? 2023?
Tanya is fine.
She’s off Twitter for a while. Trolls pushed her off.
Do not identify her in any reply.
I hate these people. Anti science and anti vaccination.
That’s all for now.

Your coolness under extreme pressure to do CPR saved his life.
The trauma to you cannot be underestimated.
You are truly are an amazing person, I hope you have had counselling to help you with this. Take care.
Dear
@Nigella_Lawson
I am writing an article on how Twitter has benefited my wellbeing, which has been accepted.
I’d love a comment from you about how your interactions with
#MedTwitter
members and their cooking affects you?
You loved my trifle! 💕
33 years ago I married this young man
@urethroplasty
I’d like to say marriage is easy because I’m so wonderful but..
Marry your best friend and do everything with him.
Not a day goes by where I don’t realise how very lucky I am.
Had an unexpected airway event.
Called for help and colleague placed this on patients chest. Regardless of nomenclature, all staff knew the red pouch was a sign of something bad happening.
My colleague and I never exchanged a word but the message was clear.

Stephen this really is such an inappropriate tweet. You seem like a decent person in my past experiences but for you to tweet such a statement and that you don’t understand the resultant vitriol please DM me. You’ve caused enormous distress.

Not to be outdone by John Howard’s appendicitis,
I am waiting to go to theatre to have mine removed.
Appendicitis at 57 years old.
Bet mine is nicer than his.
PS it hurts 😞
Difficult case.
Stopped the list and had an entire theatre staff huddle.
Outlined plan for case including Plan A, B and C.
My advise for fellow anaesthetists is to share your concerns and make sure everyone knows you are worried.
All went well.
Yay.
@silv24
I would be dead without a LSCS.
During my ante natal class on labour we spent a lot of time on breathing and a few minutes on LSCS only because I insisted.

Just yesterday a surgeon introduced himself to my male trainee at the beginning of the case.
I spoke and pointed to my named hat with my name and title on it.
I didn’t see you he said.
Oh yes that’s because I am so so small I said.
Narrator; She’s not small

Friend was asked why she refused to breast feed on post natal ward.
RN lectured her for 30 minutes on benefits.
She finished with now tell me why you won’t breast feed?
Friend lifted up her shirt and said “No breasts”

My thoughts and support to all my Sydney colleagues.
We train for these situations but we never want to use that training.
Thinking of all my healthcare colleagues providing care in the wake of the events at Bondi Junction today. I have heard the helicopters overhead and I’m sending love to everyone affected.
I’m just wondering how many 16 yo in 1988 knew that men had anal sex with women.
I was a young married woman and I didn’t know.
I cannot believe she made this up.

I’m always aware when I am anaesthetising the near dead. I’m the last voice they will hear. It’s always you’ll be safe with me. I’ll never leave you and I’ll see you when you wake up. It’s going to be ok. You’re safe.
I remember them all.

Therefore I was shocked to hear about its existence and cancellation.
Anyways…..

I had to go back to work when first baby was 13 weeks old. I did every Friday night to get my hours up. Switchboard lady took my pager and told everyone to call back unless it was life threatening. She’s got a tiny baby and she needs some sleep. Anaes 1993.

These are a family in shock who are very decent in their responses to the irresponsible media.
Leave them alone.
I refused to watch them on TV because I get no relief in watching exploited family members.
I once got scolded for taking a sandwich from a patient fridge after being on duty for 17 hours and not eaten for 12 hours.
That’s stealing I was told. I handed the nurse $10 and replied it’s not if you pay for it.
They threw them out hours later.

My son scratched a car in the supermarket car park . He waited in 41C heat to tell the car owner he’d scratched her car. He was so upset that she had to calm him down. There are good people in the world.

This time 4 years ago we received a delivery of flowers from a Twitter friend we had never met.

Been used in Australia for years.
Highly effective analgesia prior to and during transport to hospital.
Sometimes used during the hospital admission for dressing changes etc.
The Green Whistle is safe and effective.
I heard rumours today I was resigning my clinical jobs.
Sadly for those who’ve spread this I’m not.
I’m hanging around to do the right thing and be the voice you don’t want to hear.

I saw a woman return a faulty pram to be told she had to pay for assembly.
She said she didn’t have any money for that.
Her tiny baby had a feeding tube and was clearly special needs. That’s not my problem he said.
I went up and paid the $16 for assembly.

My GP practice does every time, and I apologise for the delay every time as well. I work in public and private as a specialist and most people seem to understand. We try.

Just putting it out there.
How many of my Twitter anaesthetists do gaseous inductions of adults?
I do them all the time and I did one recently and the surgeon seemed very surprised.
I do them on needle phobes and the intellectually disabled.
I don’t think any of these short lockdowns in NZ, Perth, Brisbane, Adelaide etc have found any extra cases that should not have already been in isolation because they were close contacts or had gone to bars etc named as points where close contact may have occurred.
