Good riddance to the Aussie childcare subsidy 'activity test' that required 48 hours paid work, study or volunteering fortnightly (and volunteering was capped at 16 hours) to 'earn' the right to preschool education. The cruelty *was* the point. 😠 https://t.co/eYSAnzhwkN

As a matador/metaphor for the year ahead... I wish certain world leaders *would* choose to put lethal battles aside, and have a cuppa together instead. πŸ™πŸ«–πŸ•Š

I was impressed with our book Cricket Sports Medicine getting 10K downloads after a few months, but then even more surprised to learn that my Podcast interview with @quietcordial at @CricketLibrary now has 27K listens on YouTube!

And the first publication for 2026! We don't have equity until we ALL have equity. 🌏 'This editorial adds value by emphasizing how gender inequities vary between high-income and low- and middle-income countriesβ€”an area seldom explored.' More- https://t.co/GLMabQFL5k

One last publication for 2025! I'm so proud of the interdisciplinary team that provided robust debate on this umbrella review of the effects of Enhanced Recovery on SSI and 30 day readmission. Team psychological safety = better research. #MedTwitter https://t.co/t0DGRJxQRW

Thank you to all the lovely folks acknowledging my culture in their New Year wishes, but- hold your horses! 🀣 It isn't the Year of the Horse until Chinese New Year, beginning Feb 17 this (Gregorian) year. Until then, we're still in a Snake year.

Your year in healthcare was a success if: You made a colleague laugh in the middle of a hard shift. You bought someone coffee. You took on the extra admission so your exhausted teammate could rest. You noticed the overwhelmed family member. You checked in on the brand-new intern.

Always good to start a New Year with some facts about women’s health. May 2026 be filled with awareness and compassion. πŸ‘‡

I strongly object to antisemitism being singled out as an exceptionally severe form of racism in Australia. This year we’ve had the highest number of Indigenous deaths in custody ever, despite a RC. Racist attacks on Muslim women have increased 200% since Bondi.

A little New Year greeting (sorry - recorded on my phone, so sound is awful). An etude in major (ie happy) and minor (sad) by Kabalevsky; but major triumphs. Happy New Year to all!

Starting the New Year by slaying that old myth about not re-boiling water for tea because of oxygen πŸ«–. The bubbling of boiling water is water in gaseous phase. It's actually rather hard to completely remove dissolved oxygen from water, let alone the bound O in Hβ‚‚O.

Living in Denver instead of Jacksonville for approximately 18 months exposes you to the same additional background radiation as one standard 4-view screening mammogram. If living above sea level doesn’t worry you, the radiation from a mammogram shouldn’t either.
