Equity in Healthcare means bringing everyone up to a minimum standard of care. Those who have opposed this policy misunderstand basic triage. Ignore those who would seek to misrepresent care that is ethical, evidence-based & effective. https://t.co/zfs5AXNooU via @ABCaustralia

One of my earliest memories has a precise date: 11 November 1975. I remember my father's anger. As I grew, I came to understand why. For migrant families in Melbourne's West, the Whitlam Govt meant university education, respect for multiculturalism, & even sewerage. Thanks Gough.

Healthcare professionals are here to care for people. We're not punching bags. Aggression and violence takes its toll. The causes are so numerous that it's impossible to find an all-encompassing solution. https://t.co/ks4NmOG206

There were nearly 24,000 violent incidents in Victorian public hospitals last year, and healthcare workers want legislative changes to protect them on the job.

Whether they are thousands of years old, or dominating last week's news cycle, the ethics of healthcare are prominent and controversial, because they confront complex issues that touch us all - life, death, autonomy & justice. I'm honoured to speak in Sydney on Wednesday.
Join @PlunkettCentre for the 2025 Plunkett Lecture at the ACU North Sydney Campus on Wednesday, 5 November 2025 from 530pm. Register to attend here - https://t.co/Pa8D9nNmZ8

Disappointing to see this from you, Georgie. You're fanning uninformed vitriol. When a population with appalling health measures at every level is rightly assessed as high risk & treated accordingly - to nobody else's detriment - it should be supported.
Race row erupts after Melbourne hospital gives Indigenous patients priority. The triaging of patients should be done on medical need, not the colour of your skin or race. A first glimpse of Jacinta Allan’s Treaty that will only divide Victorians.#springst

For all the emphasis on technology in medical investigation & treatment, the fact remains the basis of excellent medical care is the patient history - expert listening & story-telling is a precious skill. I celebrate & support the work of

The closure of Cohealth's medical services is a disaster for 12500 of the most vulnerable Victorians (homeless, mentally ill, violence victims). They need complex community care, & will now fall through the cracks. Shame. https://t.co/zlqQ5UO5nP

Inner-city Melbourne community health service cohealth will be shuttering its GP services at the end of the year, citing escalating costs and aging infrastructure.

Australia has almost 800,000 international students here. On many occasions, I have seen them present to hospital with a potentially serious illness, only to refuse or delay treatment over $. This avoidable, tragic death from last year is only one example. We need to do better.

Cooperation between politicians & scientists/clinicians can achieve great benefit, or cause profound harm when it fails to occur. It falls to us to defend expertise, evidence & ethics, even at personal/professional risk. And we must call out the vandalism that now rears its head

Our PM met many international leaders this week. But few are as inspurrational as the one in charge at 10 Downing Street. Larry, if only there were more like you in the corridors of power, the world would be a better place. @Number10cat @AlboMP

2024 was the deadliest year ever for humanitarian personnel. When the provision of healthcare & aid to so many in desperate need has never been greater, it's sad that the UN General Assembly has to reiterate these basic principles. Protect those who care. https://t.co/DVjolexky4

Trump & Kennedy's arrogant health idiocy will contribute to untold numbers of febrile seizures, vaccine refusal & preventable deaths across not only the USA, but anywhere within the reach of American influence. What they peddle is a despicable affront to healthcare worldwide.

The best evidence about paracetamol in pregnancy comes from Sweden last year. A well-designed study (2.4 million kids, prospective, adjusted for confounding variables) found NO association between autism & paracetamol in pregnancy. RFK's assertions are rubbish.
