When Kristin's husband had cardiac arrest, she turned their trauma into a $1.2M business. Today we scale her healthcare comedy brand to $10M: - The art of saying no to scale up - Agency models that work - Building systems without you Search "Nathan Barry Show."

I manage a 90+ person team but still get excited about every new idea. If we tried to implement them all, it would kill our momentum. Instead of pushing random ideas on your team, have them pull from your collected thoughts when they're ready. @LGlaucomflecken

Yesterday, I went to the @DGlaucomflecken @LGlaucomflecken show in Portland. #WifeAndDeath I laughed, I teared up, and left feeling hope and joy. Was it a secret wellness module? Maybe! And ran into a crew of awesome physician friends! 10/10

If something is not concerning, say so. If the news is bad, share it gently. If they’re in the room, acknowledge them. Because on the worst day of someone’s life, your words can either deepen the wound or offer the only comfort they’ll get. Choose carefully.

You might not remember the encounter. They never forget it. One sentence can echo in their mind for years. “I would’ve liked it better if you had seen him collapse.” Words stick. So be intentional, especially when things are hard.

Small kindnesses become lifelines. A warm blanket. A social worker stopping by. A sincere: “How are you holding up?” These gestures matter more than you know. They’re remembered more than the clinical details. Because they say: You matter, too.

They’re unraveling. They’re imagining life without the person they love. They're managing logistics, emotions, and responsibilities they didn’t ask for. Often, while sitting silently in a corner chair.

They are the co-survivor. When a person is critically ill, their loved one is also suffering. They may not have the diagnosis, but they carry the fear, the grief, the weight of decisions. Their life has cracked open, too. Co-survivors often look calm. Quiet. Composed. But inside?

Healthcare professionals are trained to focus on the patient during a crisis. After all, the patient carries the disease, the dysfunction, the wound. But someone else in the room is living through the same trauma, just in a different body. 🧵
