To get a Covid-19 test in London you need to own a car. There are no tests available to eligible people unless a vehicle number can be provided. That cannot be a friend or family's car or a hire vehicle. In Islington, over two thirds of us don't own a car.

It's truly hopeless this. I chair a primary school governors and we've been planning for September based on variety of scenarios and assuming the Govt will be too late with guidance. Most plans for September need to be finalised in about the next 4 weeks.
Williamson says they're giving teachers "the maximum" length of time to plan for September, whilst also saying they'll have to wait up to another two weeks for guidance as to how they'll reopen and on social distancing.

Nobody that uses a car will be prevented from using their car, parking their car or driving right to their home. The road changes will stop vehicles from using residential streets as cut-throughs when driving from somewhere else going to somewhere else.

Nobody will be denied access to their street, no parking spaces will be lost. But through-traffic will no longer cut through back streets. Over two thirds of that traffic is coming from outside Islington using our back streets as a short cut to somewhere else.

Will, what's proposed here is one of the largest LTNs in London. All traffic will be stopped ("filtered") from traveling through the area. Result? It will undoubtedly displace vehicles onto Caledonian Rd, Mackenzie Rd and Copenhagen Street. I oppose that.

At the same time, over the last 10 years, traffic on London's principal (main) roads has actually reduced. Why? Because apps like Waze direct traffic off principal roads which were designed for through traffic and onto backstreets which weren't.
London's side roads are seeing 72% more traffic than a decade ago.

In Islington, we're beginning to win the battle against air pollution. Latest annual air quality monitoring report shows that 51 out of 74 school measurement sites had lower levels of NO2 in 2019 than they did in 2018.

This was a real eye opener. LBWF has a totally fresh vision for streets where vehicle convenience is not the dominant factor. I hadn't been down Lea Bridge Rd for some years but it was barely recognisable. Incredible change. Much learned.

Share bikes are good. But more and more evidence of the "use-it-and-leave-it" ethos that's cluttering Islington. In Hackney this doesn't happen. Uber/Jump, Lime etc have a penalty system for share bikes left like this. But not in Islington. We should change that.
