Last year, I ran in an election where I faced ongoing abuse, harassment and coercive control. It’s relentless and goes on and on, along with the wall of institutional gaslighting. I want to be clear once more: I will never submit.

Back to Parliament after an eventful recess with plenty to discuss. Started today on the picket line with @pcs_union Parliamentary Security Section. As MPs we rely heavily on these people who do not deserve to see their working terms & conditions attacked. Solidarity✊

Excellent discussions with @TSSAunion regarding the future of GBR. Working people must not lose out during the transition from private to state control.

Today we remember the 13 brave miners who lost their lives at Woodhorn Colliery. We remember them and all those who lost their lives or loved ones in the mines. I hope you get the chance this summer to attend Woodhorn and get a chance to remember these men and their sacrifice.

It’s brilliant to see our working class heritage being protected for future generations by funding from Historic England. Woodhorn Museum is a brilliant resource for education, a great day out for families in the summer holidays & a really meaningful place for ex-miners like me.

500,000 journeys on the Northumberland Line. This is what green investment in our economy looks like! Our region deserves train lines and affordable public transport and we should continue our efforts to get more green investment!

Some exquisite sinking of pints here back in 1971 as Reece Elliot from Birtley in Co. Durham - 52 years a pitman - sings the satirical miners' ballad 'The Celebrated Working Man'.

I’m proud to see our Labour Mayor launch the North East Child Poverty Action Plan. Grants for pregnant mams, baby boxes and new activities for young people to support them towards work are great steps forward for the region.

Sir Brian Langstaff's recommendations highlight huge issues with the initial scheme arrangements for the victims of the infected blood scandal. 460 people have settled their claims to date but many more have sadly passed away whilst waiting. There can be no more delays.

That is why I will be arguing that the terms of reference for this inquiry must include events across the full course of the strike, not just the Battle of Orgreave.

For over a year, our communities were victims of a war that Thatcher waged against the working class. We need truth and justice for everyone who was brutalised, criminalised or wrongfully convicted during the strike.

This government has today taken the first step on the road to truth and justice for the miners. But we must never forget, Orgreave was not the only place where we faced police brutality.

It is beyond tragic that it has taken so long. Many will have died before the massive injustice they suffered is acknowledged, just as many who should have been held to account will never be.
