To those planning to sponsor, partner with, hire, or retain this man, know that Black women are watching. We do not accept his disingenuous (and far too late) apology. The responses here make our position crystal clear. Attacking Black women is NEVER acceptable. You're on notice.
Got folks are asking if I regret contacting a few of
@ChefWay__
's brand partners & encouraging them to cut ties. The answer is a resounding "no." The harm he has caused to Black women/girls is immeasurable and accountability is long overdue. His downfall is of his own creation.
I really, really, really want Brittney Griner, Mari Copeny, Stacey Abrams — and every Black woman leader, wife, healer, mother, daughter, activist, teacher, visionary, sister/friend who's ever felt the weight of the world on her shoulders — to rest. Please pause...and just be❤️
@OWNTV
I really wish
@OwnTV
would've asked, "Do you think his line of questioning was appropriate?" Put the emphasis on the casualness of his violence instead of the woman's reaction to it. They missed a huge opportunity to address a very real issue.
#ReadyToLove
@sarahljaffe
He actually said as much, Sarah. Which makes your tweet all the more ridiculous. Even if you didn't know this, perhaps try extending grace...and the benefit of the doubt next time. Won't hurt😐
Chris Smalls is a charismatic leader, but he himself has told me that it was the work of the 20+ organizing committee that pulled off today's victory. Americans' obsession with individualism shouldn't change that narrative.

@BravoTV
@iluvmariah

Ha! Welcome to our world! Countless, baseless, ridiculous assumptions, biases & unsubstantiated facts abt Black ppl based on stereotypes, pop culture, racism, etc, and rooted in everything except the truth. Writing books changed little for us, but it might work wonders for you!😉
@SSimpsonrose
@proyearner
To be clear, the violence that is racism extends well beyond "negative feelings."
Also, I wish folks were more sad/angry about racism than our reaction to it...
@DomMastrangelo1
@kaitlancollins
Actually, a world-class journalist would never have agreed to that clown show. And if they weren't so concerned about appealing to Trump and his cronies,
@CNN
wouldn't have either.
Beyond time to make CNN's shareholders uncomfortable...
@MSNBC
Erykah's wrong about this, of course. She might've introduced the phrase to a new generation, but she did not coin it. I really wish some artists were more invested in research, especially those with large platforms😔
@waymoflydenu
Not too sure about that. Him caping hard for Trump (folks warned him not to), it going absolutely nowhere and not getting anything out of the deal wasn't one of his finest moments... quite the public scandal actually. But yes, he seems like a family man!
@FlawsofCouture
Heartbreaking💔 Life is fragile indeed. Cheerleaders are so important...even the ones we've never met. Glad you got to experience her good energy❤️
@laurenrocco
I'll add that dismantling public schools has been their long-time goal with a laser focus on controlling who will have access to charter schools and what's taught in them.
@BellevueHosp
New York is an at-will state. An investigation is a formality she absolutely does not deserve. Your slow action & stall tactics will backfire as every patient of color now has reason to revisit their past experiences & future decisions about choosing you as a healthcare provider.
@ShimminyKricket
I would argue, in many ways, NOT speaking publicly about dangerous practices, lack of character, unethical behavior is how we ended up here. I admire a person with the conviction to stand on what's right. I assume they understand the consequences & have weighed them accordingly.
@dancingofpens
@BeeBabs
I'm so sorry this happened. She's useless & empty (no other explanation for behaving that way). She's also powerless, I suspect she knows that, too. You on the other hand are a beautiful, talented, kind & extraordinary woman. You're also loved & lifted. Hope you feel/see that❤️
@MsCaShawn
When the spinning stops (and it will stop), you'll land exactly where you're supposed to be. Sending big hugs & good energy your way in the meantime❤️
@CurrieCEO
@GeorgeTakei
I'm sorry, but how is it racist to point out that Black moms have been historically scapegoated & villafied in this country in regards to welfare?
@TheReclaimed
It's fascinating to witness. I understood his statement to mean that these are the stories that studios/networks typically gravitate toward, not that those stories were problematic. Critiquing his work is fair. But why assume the most negative connotation of his words?
@YNB
@indianastate
I saw this weak response floating around.
Here is a link to contact the nursing board. Challenging her license is just the thing to do!
A young woman in the store was angrily going off on her kids. I sensed there was something deeper. So I offered to buy the ice cream the kids wanted. Then I said, "Mom, what can I do for you?" She broke down in tears. Learning to show & receive softness will be our healing...
The emotional way Black women respond to even the smallest act of kindness from another Black woman signals how unkind and hard the world treats us.
Shoutout to Black women who engage other Black women through kindness and softness--we need it so much yet we shouldn't have to...
@DouglasDavisRN
Nobody's interested in your take because it makes no sense. Also folks have already contacted Emily's employer/her state licensing board. And rightfully so. For some of us, being (or interpreted as) "rude" is a death sentence. Hopefully she'll be less short-sighted going forward.
@rolandsmartin
They already are. They sued (and settled with last year) One America News Network along with Rudy Giuliani. This will hopefully make it a slam dunk for Ms. Ruby and Wandrea!
@mrfla407
@YalKnoItsNick
Help me out...what type of consequences do you think he meant? Also, why not just ignore rudeness like normal ppl and keep it moving? If a man told your sister, mother, daughter, any female you love to be nice to him or "there will be consequences," would that rest easy with you?
At times it may seem our lives are but a series of pull, strech and break...often in the direction of those who cannot and will not understand us. Until we realize the stretched & broken pieces never quite fit back together.
Wholeness is your divine right. Please remember this❤

publicly endorsing a woman who broke the law by stealing from poor families & doubling down on that endorsement by suggesting (on camera) that her crimes don't matter isnt enough to question his integrity/ intentions, I don't know what is. Stay the course, Brandon!

Playing dumb seems to be your strong suit. No group has been under attack around this anti-DEI bullshit more than Black folks, so miss me with that "spectrum" crap🙄
Lol! This clown went after a Black woman - a wife and a mother - relentlessly to advance his personal agenda & campaign to destroy DEI. F*ck him & his wife,
@NeriOxman
. Now *his* wife is fair game. And the best part? There's more to come✊🏾
You know that you struck a chord when they go after your wife, in this case my love and partner in life,
@NeriOxman
.
I am one of the most fortunate people in the universe in large part because of Neri.
Please see her post below about today’s Business Insider piece about her

I always thought her a bit odd, but loved her music and her spirit. But after I saw that mess, I called her out on it and before I could unfollow she blocked me😏 Blaming girls for the actions of grown men is nothing short of violence. And yes, churches are ground zero!
@jahsounds
I have no idea who took issue with your statement. As someone who has experienced firsthand, very early on, being the only one, you are 1000% correct. Thank you for sharing your story!

isn't the best this branch of the military has to offer. He holds none of your core values. In fact, it seems he finds holding a racist man who assaulted Black children accountable for his violence problematic. Very, very disappointing.
@dondika3
You seem to have a weird fixation w/Black single mothers. I have a few ideas why that may be. Beyond that, posting this means you're just not a decent person. I'll be visiting
@penn_state
next week on biz. I'll show them your tweet & ask if you're the best they have to offer.
@KristyT
Wow. This sounds personal. In fact, I hope it is. Otherwise, a Black woman defending a white man who intentionally tried to get another Black woman fired (over a tweet?) is an interesting choice...

Sandy, can we count on you to fight book bans that seek to whitewash the critical Black/American history you agree must be taught, explored, shared, and honored?
DEAR BLACK GIRL: Skip, jump rope, play in makeup, dance, run, create, pick flowers, play with dolls, play with bugs, stare at the sky, be sweet, be tough, cry, dream, laugh, sing...
Do all of this and more. Because way too soon, the world will forget that you are just a girl...

Dear Black Men:
When it comes to unemployment, you're at the bottom of the rung. Have been for generations. Do you see how Vlad taking a jab at Marc is also him playing in your face? Rubbing in the fact that he's his own boss, thanks to YOU? Is this how you want to go out 👑?
@austin_rief
I was the only female at the table at a business conference (not the workplace). All the men looked in my direction when the facilitator said, "Pick someone in your group to take notes." I assure you, they didn't think me a "stand out" when they did that...lol
@Political_QRM
Good thing I sent them a letter signed by a group of Black teen girls who are all aspiring pastry chefs to thank them for the special focus🙌🏾 Grateful they find it important to elevate POC in the baking industry🤗 Im sure Pillsbury or Gold Medal would welcome your support, cutie!

True! But also, let's take women out of the equation. Every single day, women are learning/unlearning w/o male intervention. Much, if not all, of the work that emotionally damaged men need to do is internal. That must happen first for them to even be receptive to the "answers."

Correct. Which is why Mark said "part of the equation" (which you quoted), not the sole reason. Mark, you give this guy more attention than he deserves. He'll contort your words because...well, what else does he have to do?🤷🏽♀️ You're a rich, shot caller, he's the exact opposite!

Lots of ways to talk about Black women's experiences in corporate America. But creating a storyline that fictionalizes the extraordinary lengths we must go thru simply to avoid cracking, is relatable & manages to make me laugh+jump? Yes!!🙌🏾

I'm 54, never been married, proposed to multiple times & could get married tomorrow if I desired as a few of them are still in pursuit. I'm highly visible & comfortable financially. Perhaps you should get a better pool of women to study...your current offerings are limited😬
@RightHere37
@CarmineSabia
Lol! Of course you don't think that🤭 For the very same reason you don't understand "how racism exists." You're not on the receiving end of either scenario & you're not equipped to step outside of your own experiences to consider someone else's. It's quite rampant, actually🤷🏽♀️

Heading to see one of my board members who lived in a rather affluent area. Cop saw me, flashed his lights, then pulled me over. When I asked why he stopped me, he said he saw me driving alone and wanted to make sure I wasn't lost😑🙄

My 96 y/old neighbor passed away today😔 I so adored her & savored her stories.

Your tweet wasn't just upsetting. It was vile, ill-informed, and dangerous. In my mind, it also calls into question your ability to effectively serve as a social worker. Wonder if the licensing board would agree?
