A young woman in the store was angrily going off on her kids. I sensed there was something deeper. So I offered to buy the ice cream the kids wanted. Then I said, "Mom, what can I do for you?" She broke down in tears. Learning to show & receive softness will be our healing...
The emotional way Black women respond to even the smallest act of kindness from another Black woman signals how unkind and hard the world treats us.
Shoutout to Black women who engage other Black women through kindness and softness--we need it so much yet we shouldn't have to...
