Spectacular cryoEM structure of LYCHOS by @bj_charles & team out in @nature strongly supports its role as cholesterol sensor for mTORC1 that we (@HijaiShin) discovered, and points to an intriguing mechanism of transport-coupled cholesterol binding. Congratulations!
We are thrilled beyond words to see our LYCHOS (GPR155) publication out today in @Nature. 🥳 “LYCHOS is a human hybrid of a plant-like PIN transporter and a GPCR” https://t.co/I7ibRphMzS 🧵

Congratulations to my (new-ish) colleague, Qili Liu and her team for this exciting work on how dietary setpoints are controlled in flies, perhaps particularly relevant given that Ozempic seems to affect appetite but doesn’t reset setpoints in people.

The coordinated actions of two opposing GPCR pathways establish distinct protein intake setpoints by modulating the resting membrane potential of protein hunger neurons.

Such a pleasure to meet you @jeroen_claus and see for the first time captivating and insightful visualizations of structures done by @phospho. Looking forward to learning about new kinase secrets that they will reveal!
What a great week at #EMBOpseudoenzymes! First time since 2013.. Delighted to present some of our @phospho work on visualising the conformational kinome, and of course a particular highlight to meet one of my scientific heroes, the brilliant @JuraLab_UCSF
