Every day people make decisions, using bullshit, that are costly to themselves, their families, organizations, and governments.

The most interesting thing I read today. Would seem to save a lot of senseless time-wasting. Bluedorn, A. C., Turban, D. B., & Love, M. S. (1999). The effects of stand-up and sit-down meeting formats on meeting outcomes. Journal of Applied Psychology, 84, 277-285.

Most any politician is a parrot that checks which way the wind is blowing amongst their party. Trump just happens to be remarkable at this talent according to

No doubt people have great ideas, but if they’re unable to communicate them, the potential goes untapped.
Solid communication is a staple of successful business.

There are only 2 rules among people who actually sell wine. Rule number 1: Drink what tastes good. The only way you know that a wine is pleasing to you is for you to try it. Rule number 2: Drink whatever you can afford. Both rules are very sensible.
When I'm at Chipotle, l always wait until after the employee puts the first scoop of chicken on my burrito to ask for double chicken, so the size of the first scoop isn't compromised by the knowledge I'm getting a second scoop and now the employee has shown their hand in terms of
Most interesting thing I've read today: "As a matter of fact, most companies and talent management consultants don't seem to care about accuracy, which explains why the Myers-Briggs test is the most widely used assessment tool in the world." from The Talent Delusion by

For this Valentine’s Day, what better way is there to show someone their words, actions, or simply their presence in your life, have meant more to you than can be said? 💕 I know I’ll be sending a few bookentines this year!😘😘

Happy to share a new paper. Why and under what context is bullshitting persuasive? Bullshitting and persuasion: The persuasiveness of a disregard for the truth
No, the cover has nothing at all to do with
@Mike_Pence
and the last VP debate. The cover was designed 5 months before the debate. Just so happens the fly is the quintessential prototype for BS detection. Political leaders of all walks are BSers, just like everyone else.
It’s definitely not “wokeness” but rather critical thinking & synthesis of multiple sources of evidence. Few academics agree on anything/everything, even w/in their own fields, so the delusion that college students are being brainwashed to fit another narrative is not supported.
Sometimes people ignore or deny truth, or pretend to believe in mistruths and untruths, in order to satisfy beliefs in others things that are also not true. …and what comes out is bullshit.
Most interesting thing I've read today. Great TIME article by

Why is it that people appear to think if they insert the word “science” anywhere in their argument—no matter how haphazardly used or misinformed—that it somehow uniformly legitimizes their argument? It doesn’t.

Problems usually don’t just go away until you take action to fix them.
You can make positives out of most any negative with humility & hard work. Problems are not setbacks, but challenges & opportunities to improve.

Organizational scholars define resilience as the maintenance of positive adjustment under challenging conditions.
Resilience isn’t about taking punches.
It’s the ability to bounce back from unfortunate events, & preserve or improve functioning despite the presence of adversity.
So happy to share my latest report on the problems with bullshit. Turns out Harry Frankfurt was right - the stuff of BS is insidious, and in some cases, more so than lies.
Proper personnel eval. improves the chances of having the right people in the right places.

There is so much quack science out there, based on what people want to be true or what products people want to sell. I try to stick to peer-reviewed journal article data, not the confidence of the promoter or how fast they talk with fancy hand gestures in a YouTube video.
