I called a friend a couple weeks back to see if he'd made it to Alaska. He totally made it to the airport only to be told he wasn't early enough (at 5:30am) for his 6:45am flight. Had to try again next day, by getting up around 3:30. Now I see why my wife was always the stickler.

Yup, I always take the day (or at least a half day) off if my child keeds to go to the doctor. That way if there's an urgent need we can afford the extra hour or hour and a half at the appointment, instead of scheduling yet another future appointment.
