Update on the Kansas State bowl bid. Last year, the Sun Belt fined Marshall $100K for dropping out of the Independence Bowl.
On the topic of Kansas State and a bowl game, I'm hearing the Wildcats are waiting to consult with the Big 12 before making a final decision about accepting or declining an invite.

SEC presidents voted to increase the number of maximum scholarships available to football rosters from 85 to 105, sources tell @YahooSports. As part of the House settlement, schools are permitted to increase scholarships to 105 in football, but the SEC last year remained at 85.

If Kansas State opts out of bowl, the 5-7 teams, based on 2020-24 multi-year APR rankings, an NCAA source told @On3sports, is in order Rice, Auburn, UCF, Miss St & Florida St. These rankings aren't publicly available. @RedditCFB & others have reported incorrect lists of APR teams

Florida State has climbed from the lowest APR in FBS to one of the highest over the last 6 years. Would be pretty neat if they got a bowl on academics.
This might be one of the most impressive climbs in college football: as recently as 2019, Florida State was dead last in FBS in multi-year Academic Progress Rate at 936. Their single-year rate this year was 997, just 3 points off perfection.

[NEW!] If a bowl bid becomes available for a 5-7 team, Florida State is first in line ahead of Auburn. They have identical multi-year Academic Progress Rates, and identical 2023-24 single-year rates, but FSU’s 2022-23 single-year rate is higher so they are first in line.
