Bored in the hospital so I put all my symptoms into ChatGPT & asked it to list the most likely dx’s in order. Of course, anxiety was at the top of the list. So I ran it again but as a male pt, and to absolutely no ones surprise, anxiety wasn’t even ON the list of possible dx’s 🙃

For the record, the other possible dx’s were things like pulmonary embolism, acute coronary syndrome, and cardiomyopathy. In other words, what ChatGPT saw as most likely just anxiety for a woman, it saw as potentially life threatening conditions for a man. That’s… telling.

Then there was the dr who wrote off my abdominal pain as ovulation and told me to stop whining. Got a new dr. Turned out to be a hemorrhagic ovarian cyst large enough to make me a candidate for surgery. When it ruptured the pain literally brought me to my knees.

I’d rather see Jewish holidays treated as every other “major” holiday than to have it all as PTO. Same with Muslim holidays. Ppl who don’t celebrate can just use those days to rest or catch up. Only bc even on PTO, many places still expect you to be responsive to emails/calls.

Exactly this. I also think there’s a risk in ruling out common causes and defaulting to anxiety even when it doesn’t quite fit. For example, I had a medic try to say my sudden drop in BP was due to anxiety. Obvs, anxiety isn’t really known for *lowering* anyone’s blood pressure.
