Bored in the hospital so I put all my symptoms into ChatGPT & asked it to list the most likely dx’s in order. Of course, anxiety was at the top of the list. So I ran it again but as a male pt, and to absolutely no ones surprise, anxiety wasn’t even ON the list of possible dx’s 🙃
For the record, the other possible dx’s were things like pulmonary embolism, acute coronary syndrome, and cardiomyopathy. In other words, what ChatGPT saw as most likely just anxiety for a woman, it saw as potentially life threatening conditions for a man. That’s… telling.
The irony is that I’ve actually been having to constantly push back on preemptive conclusions that my symptoms are “just anxiety” the whole time I’ve been here.
In conclusion, it is exhausting being a woman and having to advocate for your health. I am begging y’all to do better.
they really made us wait an hour and a half, didn’t have Jackie and Josh on, had Vanessa grill Marshall who was the LEAST problematic one on there, and then invited Bartisse to close it all out? with baby talk no less ?! nah. netflix need to run me my money back.

My twin sister had cardiac symptoms into our 20’s that were always written off as anxiety, until one terrifying day when she had a TIA. It took that for them to finally discover a congenital heart defect, which required open heart surgery to repair.
@sadxgorlx
I’ll never forget the dr who sent me home from the ED after fainting & called it anxiety. Went to a different ED the next AM. They ran a stroke code & it turned out to be a fucking seizure. At least they listened.
@_MorseCoded
@francesweetman
I’m blocking this douchebag. I’m sure he’s gonna bitch about it. And I don’t care. The entitlement on display here is truly astounding. Women don’t owe you anything, Brad.
@keithdamort
@jkosseff
“Need to know why” ??? And why is that, exactly?? Genuinely curious what makes you feel so unreservedly entitled to an explanation for someone else’s personal decision whether or not to consume a substance, particularly one with such well documented negative health consequences.
@sadxgorlx
Then there was the dr who wrote off my abdominal pain as ovulation and told me to stop whining. Got a new dr. Turned out to be a hemorrhagic ovarian cyst large enough to make me a candidate for surgery. When it ruptured the pain literally brought me to my knees.
@MarcusPun
One of my symptoms was a sudden overwhelming sense of impending doom. I’ve had it once before when I was having an anaphylactic reaction. Once you’ve had it it’s not something you ever mistake for normal “anxiety” ever again.
My firm is great, but there’s this one atty specifically who I absolutely LOVE to work for. Why? Bc he acknowledges when I do something well, & whenever he edits something I draft he ALWAYS takes the time to explain. As a fairly junior atty, that feels like hitting the jackpot.
@Darth__El89
@julianakilrose
It wasn’t the UN. It was an independent body called the International Tribunal on US Human Rights Abuses Against Black, Brown, and Indigenous Peoples. The tribunal was nominally held at UN Headquarters, but hearings and testimony were in Harlem and Washington Heights.
@sadxgorlx
Then there was the dr who told me my complaints were all anxiety and I just “wasn’t smart enough” to be a lawyer. Turned out to be an undiagnosed learning disability & ADHD that I’d just been really good at compensating for up til uni/law school.
Literally fuck bias in medicine.
@StewardshipAmer
@LindseyGrahamSC
@JessieJaneDuff
@realDonaldTrump
It doesn’t matter if aid was mentioned or not. He directly asked a foreign power to investigate a political opponent during an election cycle. That. Is. Impeachable.
Reverse it and imagine HRC asking China to do the same thing to Trump. Republicans would be losing it, too.
@CNN
I love all the “this is wrong I was spanked and I turned out fine” takes here.
Yes, Brian, because your *singular life experience* must disprove the findings of 69 comprehensive studies on the issue. 🙄
Stop hitting your kids, people.
Also, no, you prob didn’t turn out “fine”.
@Darth__El89
@julianakilrose
And I make that distinction bc that Tribunal shouldn’t need to derive its legitimacy from the UN. There was a panel of expert jurists largely from the global south, and testimony was taken from the very people who live these experiences every day— that by itself should be enough.
can we all agree that Dylan from Squid Games is the actual worst? Literal embodiment of an entitled mediocre white guy. Told his opponent in the marbles game she was unreasonable for not doing what he wanted, then was too petty to agree to a reasonable tie breaker? Just eww.
@kellib1228
@kaylamellis_
this is so incredibly unkind. I hope if you ever need a doctor, they show more empathy for you than you’ve shown here. you should be ashamed.
@jhsutherland2
@AOC
Why do people insist that if a dem voter decides not to vote dem in the next election it means they’ll vote Republican? That’s not what happens. What happens is people stay home. They don’t show up bc they feel like no one’s showing up for them either way so why bother?
@Jen_OneN
I understand why you feel anguish— it’s a grueling process. But you have NOTHING to be embarrassed of!! You stood up and took one of the hardest professional exams there is in the MIDDLE OF A GLOBAL PANDEMIC. I literally can’t imagine what that took?!! So HOLD. YOUR. HEAD. HIGH.
@HarrlyQuinn
Yes, it was identical. And is there any actual data supporting your third point? Bc women are more likely to die of heart attacks/heart disease, have cancers go undiagnosed etc. Begs the question of is it psychosomatic or are we just being ignored and dismissed more often?
@ArgentElly
@sadxgorlx
You actually have no idea how much that means to me. No ones ever said that before. It was always that I wasn’t trying hard enough or didn’t want to be helped. As if I were neurotypical. Thank you so, so much for that 💜🙏🏻
She is absolutely right. I full body cringe every time I see “Rest In Power” being misused for nonsense that it was never meant to be used for. Same w “Say Her/His/Their Name.” These phrases have meaning, & they’re just hijacked w/o a second thought. It’s embarrassing & shameful.
@lanikaps
I just saw a story where someone lost their wedding ring and posted in a metal detector Facebook group and a guy found it for them! Hoping you get a similar happy ending too!
@ERnurse86
I don’t get it. Wasn’t her whole philosophy like “does this or does this not spark joy?” Like, if you were happy being messy, she was happy to let you. If you were happy being tidy, she was happy to help. Weird af that people went to call her out.
@anjgi
@Madiii03
There’s literally nothing controlling about this ? He didn’t insist on it, he said feel free if you want somewhere to put all those thoughts. And he expressed interest in OPs inner world. That’s not controlling, that’s a healthy loving interest in your partner and their work.

Genuine question, how do you pronounce this? Like ‘mix’? I’m seeing it around more and more but just not sure on the pronunciation.
@ADHDdesigner
Buying precut fruit/veggies, proportioned meats/etc. Yeah it’s more expensive, but you’re gonna pay the ADHD tax one way or another, so may as well go with what lets you eat healthy and doesn’t leave good food going bad in your fridge.
@bxbyLuce
@AndraDoesCare
@ZZfabs
Yep! She’s doing great now. But she had a PE several years after that, and it was the same song and dance of it’s just anxiety. Thankfully she’s a nurse and knew how to effectively advocate for herself— it probably saved her life.
@BDTRELILBROTHER
Nah, the evil part was where he made her get her tubes tied— undergo a whole ass surgery under general anesthesia and everything— bc he was too “scared” to get a vasectomy, which takes 15 mins and a shot of lidocaine.

Yes, it was wrong. But in what world do you think you’re entitled to a detailed explanation of my medical condition or treatment? Fucking insane, actually.
@TheEliKlein
@leezeldin

Liver’s friendliest. Even when u down a bottle of champagne at brunch & make a bunch of bad life choices, it’s still got ur back & helps clean up the mess. Meanest is the brain. Feeling pretty? Here’s a memory from that time when u got spinach stuck in ur teeth on a 1st date 🙃
@dropoutninja
By filling you in on what they were doing and expecting you to keep it a secret, they were making you complicit in their deceit. You never agreed to be part of it and had every right to refuse to do so and to tell Friend B. Definitely NTA.
@LuxAlptraum
I’d rather see Jewish holidays treated as every other “major” holiday than to have it all as PTO. Same with Muslim holidays. Ppl who don’t celebrate can just use those days to rest or catch up. Only bc even on PTO, many places still expect you to be responsive to emails/calls.
@WomanRespecter0
@zukosmadre
Also, lots of people with adhd can successfully get otherwise impossible things done if they use body doubling— basically you just sit and hang with them while they do mundane tasks, chores, etc. Makes a huge difference in our quality of life.
@jtputts73
@_MorseCoded
@francesweetman
Yes, entitlement. 1. ChatGPT doesn’t save chats. Wild to assume I’d have screenshotted it to prove to a random man on twitter. 2. Even if I had, it would have all of my detailed medical info, which again, random men on the internet are not entitled to. Hope that helps ✌🏻
@bettinablancoRD
No they’re not? When I asked ChatGPT why it didn’t include anxiety in the list for men but did for women, it responded with an apology and saying it was an oversight, not that men don’t have mental health issues.
@arghavan_salles
I saw someone else comment how using poorly designed instruments for their hand size led to surgery for carpal tunnel. Surgeons (obviously) use their hands. It’s not whining to want appropriately sized equipment to avoid potentially career ending stress injuries.
@NemoAnon0
@BeccaLizz
Also, the only people who should be “recommending” baby safe treatment regimens, if OP actually had even been pregnant in the first place, are her doctors. Quit giving pregnant women unsolicited advice on what to do with their bodies. Happens all the time and it’s annoying af.
@AshDUnkindled
@Ranting_Trans
This response is embarrassingly American. Why on earth would you expect that people in other countries know what American labor laws or leave policies are? Or that it’s such a hotly discussed topic in other corners of the world that everyone would have “at least” heard ab it ??
@_Nanomachines_
Ok so yes, men’s mental healthcare is important. But women are *literally dying* from missed and delayed medical diagnoses of life threatening conditions. That’s the topic here. Let’s not make this convo about men, please.
@roxiqt
I literally get more high quality, accurate, & up to date info from this bird app than I do from anywhere else. Legitimately a little horrifying bc it means so many people are just so uninformed. Also prob why so many think you’re being dramatic if you’re still taking precautions
@meghanncuniff
@troutmanpepper
Actually baffled by all the replies saying “I don’t get how this email helps her.” How does a thread full of legal professionals not stop to read the actual complaint before leaping to mean-spirited conclusions about its relevance or the plaintiff's performance? Do better, guys.
@sparkyabraham
@legallyypink
It’s not even just public interest lawyers. Lawyers in private practice in secondary and tertiary markets aren’t paid six figure salaries. Still have six figure debt though, even if you went to a public school.
@WomanRespecter0
@zukosmadre
Honestly not judging us when we screw up at things that you think are simple or easy is a really good place to start. Not getting offended when we disappear, or communicating that you understand and love us anyway and we’re good— that all goes a really long way.
@tia_visagie
@celesitial
The number of Leos saying “it’s my bday but I have nothing planned & don’t even wanna do anything tbh,” myself included, is how you know this take is 100% accurate. When have you ever met a Leo who didn’t want to party in their own honor every summer?? We are not okay
@jgatzme
Ok no but yes, many people do keep them around even knowing what they’ve done. Bc they dismiss women as being dramatic/say it’s not that bad/not what she thinks it is/isn’t abuse/etc.
@AltSamPiper
@FretterJulie
@MichellePerri
Women doctors can suffer from the same biases. They learn and train right alongside their male colleagues. It’s a much more systemic issue than just one gender of healthcare providers.
@Karmatrumpsgod
I went on a first date with a guy and when I came back from the bathroom I noticed the straw on my drink was moved (that’s how paranoid I am). He went to the bathroom after me, and I swapped our drinks while he was gone.
@cryptoghillie
@hastalaraizmed
She didn’t rob anyone of anything. That peer could have done what he should have done in the first place and called an interpreter to assist, instead of expecting his colleague to take time away from her own training to help him do something that she had the skills to do herself.
@ganzaXVII
@DvsBlack
@Zoe_Beausoleil
It’s not elective. If induction fails and the dead tissue isn’t removed, she’d literally get septic and die. Wtf are you even talking ab “elective” ???
@conalbirtles
@torweee
This. I don’t understand why it’s so “funny” to belittle your partner’s joy. It’s literally just mean and meant to make them feel small, and to do it under the guise of a joke so that if they get mad ab it then *they’re* the problematic partner. Absolutely not.
@DietCoke_Esq
Unlimited PTO = nobody takes vacation, ever.
"We're really looking for a strong motivated self-starter" = we'll give you absolutely no guidance whatsoever and then blame you when you can't figure it all out on your own.
@LibrarySkyhold
Yep. I don’t think female doctors are immune from this type of bias. They learn right along with their male colleagues. Some may be more mindful of it from their own personal experiences, but that’s certainly not always the case.
@DariusAGreen
Back in law school my bf at the time was Mexican and had brown skin, dark features, high cheekbones. I took him to a black tie event w/ me and like four diff ppl stopped him to try to order a drink or let him know the restrooms were out of paper towels. He was in a 3 piece suit.
@soumya_goblue
@invisiblegirl99
Or, we could just hold men accountable for their actions and not deflect blame to the fact that he was “just drunk” ? People get black out drunk every day. Most of them don’t go around sexually assaulting a mother and teen daughter this way.
@jhsutherland2
@AOC
ESPECIALLY when there are so many barriers to voting that make it hard to do in the first place. Not a holiday, no paid time off work, long lines/limited polling places depending on where you live, not to mention a *literal pandemic* that we can safely bet will still be happening
@TheJimbo64
@Esqueer_
Do you have any idea what life is like in Puerto Rico? What the median income is? What the median age is? Unemployment? Ppl are busy living their lives & trying to survive in a modern day colony. Go figure out wtf’s happening in Texas before you come for the ppl on that island.
@fuzzymittens
Yup. Extra punch for luck. Pinch to grow an inch. And a kick so you don’t get sick. No wonder the next generation took one look at us and collectively went “therapy, immediately.”
@Karmatrumpsgod
He came back and happily sipped away, and before we could order the next round he ended up on the floor of the bar, incoherent. I only knew what happened bc I noticed another pill had fallen out of his pocket when I tried to pick him up and carry him out of the bar.
PSA: if a single friend tells u that life feels like too much & they wish they had a partner to share some of the burden, it’s never appropriate to tell them omg no u don’t need a partner. Let them feel how they feel, it’s valid. Just ask how u can support instead of criticizing.
@Ogcsn
@crackcobain__
“the neighbours” is prob my most favorite way I’ve ever heard anyone refer to the United States. It’s such subtle shade, I love it.
@Bambi_Eyess
@GeauxGabrielle
Exactly this. What is broken in community can’t be healed in isolation. The way we learn to form healthy trusting bonds with others is by actually doing so, rather than just conceptualizing it intellectually.
@eggshellfriend
@arikbtc
I literally was rejected by multiple shelters in NYC for things like not having a backyard, never having owned a dog before, and bc I’m a single attorney. It was actually super, super hard and I broke my own heart a bunch of times before I finally gave up.
@kye_tilley
Did u miss the “don’t raise ur voice” comment when she clearly was just talking normally ?? Black women are constantly having to contend w being perceived as loud/angry & unreasonable when they’re just standing up for themselves to white men. That’s what race has to do w it.
Maybe unpopular opinion but news org tweets & headlines ab Duxbury that describe the crime & don’t say that she was being treated for PPP are incredibly irresponsible. Same goes for stories that don’t explain what psychosis is & note the lack of psych beds available in her state.
@fatangryqueer
The amount of people surprised that the landlord had the renters SSN is just..... have none of y’all ever rented an apartment before??? 🧐
@RobertVaughanNP
Exactly this. I also think there’s a risk in ruling out common causes and defaulting to anxiety even when it doesn’t quite fit. For example, I had a medic try to say my sudden drop in BP was due to anxiety. Obvs, anxiety isn’t really known for *lowering* anyone’s blood pressure.
@Mad_Hildebrandt
How you learn to never complain about anything, because you know your parents are doing their best and want better for you, and you can’t imagine adding to their struggles by making them feel bad, so you simply don’t complain ab being cold when there’s no heat, scared, etc.
@StructuredSucc
@wynneliz1
I had a doctor once tell me that I didn’t have ADHD, I was just depressed. Plot twist: I was depressed/anxious in large part because of the symptoms/consequences of untreated ADHD. So insanely frustrating to be stuck in that kind of invalidating catch-22.
@graeme_0
Agreed. I remember a NYC where everybody masked on subways and we all went out on our fire escapes every evening to clap it out for healthcare workers. For a minute, I thought we’d all pull together. I was wrong.
@ScythianUnborne
@BrandiLynn4Ever
You’re soooo close to the point, it’s kind of insane. Where do you think customer policy and management protocols come from? Could it, perhaps, be market expectations?
@Jen_OneN
The exam is NOT a measure of competency. It has literally no bearing at all on what kind of lawyer you’re gonna be. You know what speaks volumes? The fact that you faced an impossible situation and you *still tried*. That is extraordinary.
@DrCanuckMD
There are doctors out there telling people that masks are to blame for this and that we need to just let kids get sick. One was literally on CBS this AM. A pediatrician no less, who blamed masks for getting three colds for the first time in 20 years of practicing medicine.
@DrCamiloOrtiz
@tage_rai
Yes, the students deciding to sleep outside on the ground in April in NYC, many of whom are from or have family in Gaza, are definitely “the most privileged and coddled.”
@WhalePrincesGF
@RyanMarino
I don’t get the point of this comment. There’s nothing in the article saying she had an allergic reaction. If she had, narcan wouldn’t have helped. The article said it was an overdose, not an allergic reaction, and Dr. Marino is explaining why that is scientifically impossible.
@OnlyShiitakes

Omg. It is not controlling someone to say “hey, this is a boundary for me, it’s your choice to respect it or not but if your choice is to ignore it then I won’t be engaging with you in this particular way.” Like give me a break.
New rule. When a beloved actor’s name is trending and they’re over the age of like 75, I’m gonna need Twitter to add a “trending with” and something like “happy birthday” or a movie title or something. Bc I just saw Morgan Freeman’s name was trending and almost had a heart attack
@celesitial
Other people have pointed out that she was 8 months postpartum. No one has any idea whether this was spiritual psychosis, PPD, PPP, or something else entirely. Speculating and leaping to conclusions is only going to cause more harm.
