The good people at African Law Matters an initiative of the South African Institute for Advanced Constitutional, Public, Human Rights and International Law (SAIFAC), were kind enough to publish my legal commentary on parallel party primaries in Nigeria
Let me explain what is at play here -
In Ladoja’s case the Supreme Court upheld Chief Olanipekun’s argument that the HOA complex is a designated building and that D Rovans Hotel, Ibadan is not the House of Assembly of Oyo State thereby voiding Ladoja’s impeachment
BREAKING NEWS
DEMOLITION of Rivers State House of Assembly Complex ONGOING
The Demolition of the Rivers State House of Assembly is ongoing. The Reasons for the demolition are yet to be revealed but it may not be far from the recent crisis that rocked the House of Assembly
By demolishing the House of Assembly of Rivers State, technically in law, there is no longer a designated building by which the business of impeachment of the governor can be conducted
The same decision was reached by the Supreme of Court in Peter Obi’s case where it was held that Grand Imperial Hotel, Asaba is not the designated building of the HOA of Anambra State.
The political judgments from the early 4th republic were so sound in legal reasoning.
When judgement goes against you you will know in your heart that you lost.
That D Rovans Hotel, Ring Road, Ibadan, is not the HoA Complex of Oyo State is unbeatable logic
@nicholasibekwe
A man is tweeting a simple historical unassailable fact. Do you not think that he is deeply concerned as a son of the soil that the history of his people is being twisted by knaves to make a trap for fools.
Not everybody has no scruples my friends on the internet
@maazi_ogbonnaya
The Igbo resolute unyielding belief in free will and self determination seeps through constantly in its music, culture, and philosophy. It’s astounding, frightening to outsiders and frankly speaking indomitable! Igbo Kwenu!
In my view there is a chance to say hey look I am a researcher and a scientist doing it out of the goodness of my heart. I am not rich. I am struggling just like the majority of us. Some months I can’t pay salaries on time. I am sorry. Here is your money

He is talking nonsense, there is an exclusive legislative list controlled by the FG. Not to talk of the concurrent list where the doctrine of covering the field applies. Legal scholars have posited that the powers of the Nigerian FG is unprecedented in the history of federalism.
There is no longer a question about this. This is the most tribalistic, nepotic and polarized regime in the history of our country. We must be very afraid
These ones are ethnic fanatics, purists and diehards. We must be very afraid
The quality of legal reasoning from the judiciary in the early years of the 4th republic was astonishing.
Politicians were forced to do the right thing and follow the rule of law.
What did they do next? Politicians hijacked the judiciary and put their friends, wives and cohorts

Tribalism - hate against the Igbos is the strongest uniting force in Nigeria.
My father and older Igbos were skeptical of the protests.
My father said Ozioma my son don’t join, they will turn around and use it to kill Igbos all over the country
Your name is Dayo, My name is Yinka. But you're telling me to go back to Anambra because I support Peter Obi. The people who won elections are buying 120million naira cars. Dayo, you and I are complaining about the price of spaghetti and tomatoes.
Dayo, Am I your enemy?
@DrDorisAnite
The appropriate thing is to release the MOU for all to see.
Your earlier blunder raises enough doubt about your capacity to act in Nigeria’s best interests
@MalachyOdo1
That the Supreme Court will abide by original documentary evidence before it rather than what Chijioke from MCC road says happened on Election Day. Solid jurisprudence imo. That case is support for value in hiring top notch legal minds
@SoprialaMembere
This is too funny because my best mate’s father was the last Nzeobi of the entire Egbema, Eze Francis Uzor, before, because of oil, a part was carved and put in Rivers. Eze Francis Uzor died fighting that grotesque balkanisation.
Una go just dey talk cho choo Choo

Owerri is your best bet after Lagos and ABJ
The nightlife is glorious, so many young people with about 4 universities within a 15km radius.
Also has a busy airport
The people are warm & crime rate is very Low by national standards
Only downside is the poor road maintenance
Brilliant ratio. Lucid clear presentation of the facts and application to the law.
When you read some Nigerian cases you will see firsthand the rot in this country.
Judges go on a convoluted bewildering analysis of sometimes even straightforward facts.

By virtue of Section 23 of the Legal Practitioners Act 1962 it is a criminal offence to practice as a legal practitioner within Nigeria if you have not been called to the Nigerian Bar.
Any attempt to act upon this so called bilateral agreement is at your own risk

I read the article and it’s mind-boggling that Senator Sanders doesn’t even get a mention. Not a single mention!
The public in my country is stupid but the American public is even worse.
It’s so obvious I don’t know why most people don’t see through the corporate media agenda
The self inflicted erosion of confidence in the Nigerian judiciary continues.
You are appointed a Justice of the Nigerian Supreme Court and you host a lavish event with government functionaries, businessmen and all kinds of socialites in full attendance.
How do I trust that
The fight back against General Buhari by the Nigerian people and its free press, which took down the despotic General Sabi Abacha has just officially begun!

Why contribute to the buffoonery that is happening?
When you say Group buys form for a politician, who is going to append the candidate’s signature to the form when submitting?
Of course people buying form for politicians is a ruse. Jonathan buys form is the correct news
Guys, if you are in the UK and you can vote please go out and vote. This is the most important election of this generation. Vote Labour and make Jeremy Corbyn Prime Minister for a fairer kinder world.

One of my biggest surprises on social media (first Clubhouse, then Twitter), was to discover that a lot of Igboid ethnic groups (eg Ikwerre, Ika, etc) really hate Igbo people and feel very threatened by Igbo language, and try to distance themselves from anything to do with Igbo.
@FakhuusHashim
Now particularly on the Fulani Herdsmen issue and the unending deaths, entire communities wiped out, so called bandits, deaths in thousands.
Not a single arrest, not a single government action, the only thing we hear are words like yours that speak of ‘clashes and ‘complications

This is tribal baiting. It’s wrong and only acceptable when it refers to the Igbos.
The fact that a VP candidate can casually say this is everything wrong with Nigeria.
Imagine if Peter Obi says Shettima can only be President in Hausa/Fulani land, there will be a media uproar

I get this is banter but on a less lighter note go to all the federal agencies, banks, tech startups, law firms, oil companies etc in Lagos and Abuja and PH and ask where the Igbo people there are from?
The majority are from Imo State. Fact!
Elkanah Onyeali was the 2nd Nigerian to play in the UK as a semi-professional. He was a striker for Tranmere Rovers, scoring 8 goals in 13 games in the Football League during the 1960-61 season. He also played for the Nigeria scoring 11 goals in as many games between 1959 & 1961.

Failure to call Buhari to testify to the genuineness or not of his signature, imo, is already fatal to the prosecution’s case
means, by rule of law, by dialogue and dialectics, by intellectual dissension, by the ballot box, by referendum, gradualism, even by political scheming, and shenaningan, but not by violence and anarchy.
@Mrpossidez
Good analysis but this “The human race is the only race without which the world disintegrates” is suspect. There is no objectively weightier argument for why we need to protect the human race and not also the animal race. It falls back really to a question of degree.
@Advsola
Do you know you already soft islamisation in the Nigerian public institutions and important government and military positions with the lopsided appointments. This sounds a tad naive , imagine if this continues for the next 20 years.
@dondekojo
I repeat, in view of the history of hostility & genocide & systemic marginalisation of Igbos in Nigeria, there was tribal animus in some of the hysteria and unyielding criticism.
Are you denying the history of hostility & genocide & systemic marginalisation of Igbos in Nigeria?
@fisayosoyombo
@SeunDuro1
Please I hereby call on Igbo people in Nigeria and diaspora to stand down from the protests now that violence has escalated.
The feudal lords have now used their joker
If you are Igbo and still propagating these protests BLOOD will surely be on your hands. Ozoemena
In Nigeria putting ordinary working and small business people, market women under the groan of spurious taxation is celebrated as government achievement
@dondekojo
Guy do you honestly say that given the history of hostility & genocide & systemic marginalisation of Igbos in Nig that there was no full dose of tribalism embedded in the barrage of criticism & hysteria against NOI & GEJ? Maybe not specifically you but what’s your point really?
The NG Govt needs to inform the people who is responsible for the recent regular attacks on police and other security operatives in the SE.
If this is the handiwork of Nnamdi Kanu and ESN?
Killing of innocents for whatever purpose is not in our culture.
