🧵1/n Hopefully of interest to #policing folk, I threw together a quick tool to compare perceptions of risk and bias in AI models - you're asked to submit a risk assessment for a fictional missing person, and I then compare to a few AI models. https://t.co/uhLHXLMVkV

I don't think people have realised quite how far DC has sunk into some pretty mad anti-immigration rhetoric in the last few months. He logs onto twitter to retweet Elon comparing grooming gangs to orcs from the Lord of the Rings and dunk on Fraser Nelson for being too woke,

Run gpt-oss-20b on openrouter get 32/100 on benchmark. Run gpt-oss-20b on vllm with h200s get 83/100 on benchmark. What are these providers doing? Deepinfra terrible results

It would be good if all the Americans who tweet about Britain’s (very real) free speech problems would pay attention to the stuff happening in their own country too.
This man remains in custody on a $2,000,000 bond for posting a political meme in a discussion about a Charlie Kirk vigil. However much offense it caused, there's no serious argument it was a threat. It's hard to see the arrest and charges as anything but politically motivated.

Important context to all the Levels rage bait. Turns out it really is a great program and helps AI companies 🙌
@0xnavarro @levelsio @EU_Commission We've been in these programs too; the due diligence + time invested is almost exactly the same as for EuroHPC: - Provide Company information - Name partners - Explain your product ... Since we didn't fundraise, at LetzAI, we've had more issues getting credits from those than

“Crime has been legalised”. Just fundamentally unserious, much like most commentary on policing and crime. Look at the latest data released this week - includes homicide falling to a historic low, but shoplifting well up. This hyperbolic nonsense does no one any good.
Had a great time at @lfg_uk last night. I was totally serious about saying we should draft @pursuitofprog to run for Mayor. London is broken - crime has been legalised and building has been criminalised. Seems to me like the field is open to outsiders, esp if Sadiq runs again.

NEW Cases of murder & manslaughter in Eng/Wales down to lowest level since comparable records began, in 2002/3 - 518 homicides July 24-June 25. Police recorded: violence with injury, knife crime, robbery, gun crime also down. But rape & shop theft at record levels Source: @ONS

This French detective clearly has been waiting for this his whole life. If the movies have thought me anything, then this guy is also part of the heist team that stole the jewels.

This is empirically incorrect. Hundreds of thousands of https://t.co/GEOZunWoXj students have learned the required math for ML as they go. By *far* the biggest problem we've seen is from people who try to learn the math first. They learn the wrong stuff & have not context.

One of the most common - yet most preventable - traps that people fall into, that leads them to give up on their ML aspirations:

Throwing out a question: is the sort of thing @lfg_uk should be looking at? Does this type of "environmental disorder" degrade growth, or is this just the "everythingism" @jo3hill wrote about coming home to roost?
Amazing what you find after spending just one hour cleaning up a children's play park: broken glass nitrous oxide canisters bags of weed a broken bike lock discarded medical gloves a @JustEatUK delivery bag Left like that for months, the authorities did nothing?

“Police-assisted diversion” programs connect people who use drugs to treatment & services rather than arrest for minor charges. Adopted by law enforcement agencies across the US, there has been little to no scientific analysis of these programs. Until now.

Wonderful news! @aditharun_ just published a study on the alleged decline of testosterone using the same data, reaching the same conclusions! That is, testosterone has not radically declined, the methods we use to measure it changed and *that* is why it seems levels fell:
I do not like this chart because the trend it appears to portray is not real. Two things: 1. Between 2003-4 and 2011-12, testosterone measurement changed, and overestimation stopped 2. The sample size >10x'd between those waves, going from unacceptably small to acceptably large
