Properly taxing land/property is the “wealth tax” we definitely need. Incredibly unfair council tax and counter-productive stamp duty need to go! . Great to see @matthewsyed making the case.

The welfare bill was badly designed and poorly managed. The OBR and the Treasury forcing a last minute cut on the DWP and calling it reform is no way to govern. Salami slicing cuts which would have hurt the poorest are no substitute for deep reform and people saw through it. 1/3.

The left-wing arguments for low, controlled migration, and proper workforce planning, really are back. Mad to think that huge numbers of health/care workers being taken from developing nations would ever be considered “progressive”….
I’m proud that the NHS has always been open to international talent, but the truth is that we’ve become over-reliant - including on countries with severe shortages of healthcare staff. We’ll going to do more to grow our own and retain on talent 👇🏻.

Speaking to @christopherhope a few weeks ago about policing and free speech. I want the police focused above all on tackling serious violence, sexual offences and domestic abuse. Don’t we all?. So let’s back our police to do that, not call them in whenever an idiot sounds off.
