In 1998 I was traveling with Sen. Boxer and Biden boarded our train in Wilmington and sat with us. We talked about the same things and he was thrilled to learn my dad was from Pittston, PA (very near Scranton) so we talked about that, too. It was truly a pleasure to meet him.

With all the alcoholism in my family, it seemed natural to blame mom for my problems. Then I figured out if I focused on cleaning up the messes from my own drinking, I wouldn’t have time to focus on my mom’s shortcomings. I forgave and moved on and mom’s love came pouring in.

This is why I am leery of term limits for the House and Senate. Capitol Hill staffers are dug in & often move between members. They essentially train new electeds. They may be the closest thing in DC to a deep state. I worry that term limits would give them too much power.

Remember, Jeff Sessions' DOJ prosecuted a woman for laughing during Sessions' confirmation hearing, then proceeded to prosecute her a second time after a judge threw the case out. They finally dropped the case in November after the woman turned down a plea deal.

If we're subsidizing research like that, it should be reflected in the eventual drugs' prices. As someone who's allergic to bees, I object to Epi-Pens costing upwards of $700 to boost the profits of pharma cos. I'm not saying eliminate subsidies but there's a terrible imbalance.
