this is a middle-class democrat american woman in a zara dress sitting on the street at a tourist cafe. she can't vote for marine le pen and she doesn't speak a word of french. she went into credit card debt for preventative botox a few weeks before this trip.
French upper class gf: wears tailored Chanel suits, dines at Michelin-starred restaurants, secretly votes for Marine Le Pen

so just for the record, the situation in Gaza officially satisfies all five acts listed in the Genocide Convention. These blackouts are premeditated and mean it will only get worse. It’s now our job to proliferate information coming from Gaza as much as we are able.
Breaking: with the collapse of telecommunications in Gaza, paramedics are unable to identify the location of casualties.

@saritanigma I'd be the only one in my family with no blood on my hands. Unfortunately, it would be so painful that there would be no satisfaction in being correct.

@nkohlenberg my parents got him a nice, comfortable hotel room close to the airport, and for the record would never let him stay with a stranger. I see black lives matter to you, but Palestinian ones don't. what an interesting case of cognitive dissonance you are.

@NastasticVoyage he's gotten "the talk" many, many times over the holiday season (and many times before October 7th!) I'm not giving up on him yet - we've made tons of progress on many other issues, but I just can't have any involvement in supporting this.

@Coolsaver472616 being unable to celebrate other peoples wins is a sure way to lose friends. life sucks sometimes and for some people it sucks often but you shrink your world and your opportunities with antisocial behavior.

woman: I'm going to carve out a small place in this terrible world to study smell, something I love thinking about. I'm so glad that anyone can study what they love if they decide on a career in academia :).man: I am going to rape the vegan out of you.
To be clear, this is where I draw the line. This is abhorrent and illegal and no one should ever have to deal with this.

@cab87539319 and even if I did have a 3.1 anthropology GPA from bryn mawr, I’d still have more intelligence in the saliva I’d hardly care to spit your way than your family tree does over the last 3 generations.

my ex who loved me mexicanly was my neighbor and he lived above me for 5 months before we met. on halloween I was sitting silently on the steps drinking hot chocolate with peppermint schnapps after a disagreement with a close friend. he came downstairs "to smoke" and invited me.

@PaulSkallas as a neuroscientist working on a medical device for AD patients I can tell anyone in this thread who is curious, the best things you can do are 1) daily exercise, at least one hour 2) meditate daily, at least 30 minutes 3) REGULAR SLEEP SCHEDULE 4) probiotics and gut health.

though I hate the aesthetic being described here this post is a perfect example of someone who is metaphysically stunted beyond rehabilitation.
Taylor Swift is the antithesis of everything I hold dear in this life. Just the lowest common denominator of wholesome vapid TJMaxx quirky girl The Office Trivia Night girlboss board-games-for-grownups bullshit, a nonstop stream of poison to the american cultural well.

@bbloomme it's important to talk about these feelings. I think everyone who has had to live in survival mode experiences it - this has happened to me maybe once or twice in my life. I actively redirect those thoughts by asking myself what I am missing and make a plan for self improvement.

@miri_yam_ correct, all NYC tenants are entitled to the fulfillment of the warranty of habitability that your landlord must provide by law. file for rent abatement with a court and it will no doubt go in your favor. one of the pros of living in the most pro-renter city in the US.

@Vabanquespieler at this point in history, being in your twenties or early thirties is hard. the job market sucks, real estate and education are less accessible and more expensive than ever, people value marriage less so it’s hard to find a partner. i have a lot of sympathy for people who have.

@Hoelessbychoice i cook every meal every day and eat out only as my social or work schedule demands. My dad is a great cook and my mom is a great baker, they taught me early. If you can’t cook i’d stop complaining. If you can i’d raise your standards.

@MikeHandles133 On one hand, it makes sense - you hear the bomb sirens go off, and that sticks with you forever - "we're truly under threat reeeee". on the other hand, knowingly sending people's CHILDREN onto the site of a war/ethnic cleansing for tourism is as barbaric as anything I can imagine.

@BKellyGorman I know! I didn't take birthright, but have been to Israel as a child ~12 years old and frankly had a terrible time. I never wanted to go back. I tried to tell him about my experience, but he told me there's no way he *wasn't* going.

@Monardafire @Morbidful I understand why you’d think they sound harsh and annoyed but part of their training is to keep asking questions, even if they seem irrelevant, until help arrives to keep the person on the line and their mind active. that’s why she keeps reiterating.
