Madly in love with this Torrance sixplex. Six homes on a ~10,000 sqft lot, interior courtyard, fully parked via an alley.

The SB Thrive project near McKinley Avenue and Hickory Road will provide 54 units of affordable housing. Here, four townhouses and a sixplex are under construction.

While canvassing one of the more gentrified neighbourhoods in beautiful Northumberland - Peterborough South, I run into THIS strange beast... a Sixplex! What?? Yes, a sixplex coexisting happily....housing SIX FAMILIES in the same space a Ford development would put a family of 4.

We officially opened our affordable housing sixplex today in the historic Red River Métis community of St. Boniface. The units are already full with some amazing people. Thx to Elder Norman Meade, Winnipeg Region VP Carriere & Regional exec Beaudin & Remillard…1/2 @MBMetis_MMF

This sixplex is on my suburban street. The renters are quiet, you hardly notice their cars, and the building itself is quite pleasant to look at. We need to legalize these everywhere.

Per @AEI analysis, there are about 90,000 single family detached dwellings in Seattle city that are economically viable today for a conversion to a sixplex. If legal, such conversion could add ~6,500 units per year for many years. Here is where these homes would be built.

Come to think of it, my undergraduate dormitory would make for a very handsome efficiency/1/2br sixplex.

Sometimes when people hear "legalize apartments", they think of towering structures. But the sixplex in this article (first pic) would look right at home in some of DC's wealthier neighborhoods (others)

Amid disappointingly slow Missing Middle progress in Arlington, a six-plex under construction near the Virginia Square Metro Station shows the incredible power of density to lower land and overall costs for homes:

When faced with criticism over the sixplex vote, including my own, @MayorOliviaChow’s response is this? “Empathy is strength, hearing each other, finding common ground is strength.” Empathy isn’t effort, which is what we didn’t see. I like the mayor personally, but sometimes

In neighborhoods, “character” is often used as a euphemism for fighting change. But sometimes, if meant earnestly, it can be about design. While taste is subjective, I think this sixplex at 312 Quebec Av is designed well. We can have more affordable housing options and character.
