@wesstreeting appears to be deliberately causing a shortage in consultants, so that he can justify turning non-medically qualified people into consultants and force the public to accept medical care from these people. This is not safe and it is extremely unfair to the public.

NHS care is now being rationed. GPs have been told (and will be paid) to refuse, at least, 1 out of 4 specialist referrals to hospitals in order to reduce waiting lists by 25% minimum. Wes Streeting is a dangerous menace. This is an inhumane way to reduce waiting lists.

There’s no such thing as a “GP referral rejection”. The truth is that patients are refused specialist input.

Again, public needs to understand this. These training places are how you get the specialists that patients require for clinics, operations and cancer care. They should not be anything to do with a scrap between unions and politicians - they're necessary.

You may think I’m joking or exaggerating, but the UK plan is instead of a doctor, you will get to see someone with a 2 year non-medical degree who uses AI to tell them what to do.

This should be headline news but it’s likely it will go unmentioned. One has to question why? I, as a patient, want my medical or surgical consultant and GP to have gone to medical school. I believe others want this too. This must be stopped.

The GMC, until recently, exclusively regulated doctors – those with full medical qualifications. The Starmer-Streeting axis has already – with the collusion of the GMC – started to erode that distinction

Just to be clear, the position of the government with 7 million people waiting to see a doctor is that we have enough doctors.

I’ve been an NHS doctor for over 15 years I can sit here and confidently tell you that the NHS is worse today than it has ever been Streeting’s NHS funding cuts, doctor replacement, referral refusals have led to astronomical hospital wait lists & GPs on the brink of collapse

Wes, no-one believes you. GPs are tearing their hair out. Patients are screaming in pain. Hospital doctors have become refusal/push-back services. Waiting lists aren't down - it's a con. We need a fully funded, public NHS that serves the public, not private businesses or you!

About to give a speech on the NHS: Change We Can Believe In. An account of the progress we’ve made so far and what we plan to do next. Grounds for optimism, not cause for complacency. Lots done. So much more to do.

We have had our advice and guidance requests take over 8 months to get a response. In one instance the patient had died waiting (with the guidance that eventually came back saying they didn't need to see a specialist for the thing that they died from).

The Government is mandating GP referrals have to go to a Single Point of Access (SPoA) - with a stated aim of 1 in 4 being bounced back to the GP to manage. It is now confirmed in writing that those patients will not be on official waiting lists. 1/2

To make GP work well we simply need 1 more full time GP, 2 more admin staff and 2 more nurses (and some space to put them). This is for my practice, just over average size. We don’t need fancy phone lines, ridiculous access targets, failed MDT rollout or tricky new strategies…

This is not helpful for anyone. 20 years ago I could directly refer to another consultant if there was a need. Now it’s layers of bureaucracy- army of managers and lesser qualified staff- causing stress for patients and GPs

A large part of the pressure in general practice is work shifting from secondary care. Waiting lists and Advice & Guidance mean complexity sits in primary care. GP time is spent prescribing for specialists, navigating referral forms and doing hospital follow-up.

Paradoxically, GPs are underemployed despite high demand for their care. 50% of all GP trainees in their final year of GP training between 2018 & 2024 were still not employed by a GP practice a year later – either in a permanent position or a regular locum role.

In a sea of reasons why substitution of doctors with medically unqualified people is harmful, it’s cruel to expect patients to repeatedly open up about their most intimate fears, pains and suffering, to people and AI that don’t have the ability to medically attend to them. Seeing

This is a sobering picture. Up to 45% reduction in GP jobs available. Exponential rise in “other” employment. But they say there’s no doctor substitution. Who is checking to be sure that this is safe for patients?

We don't want to see this in our hospitals, but sadly it’s an all too common scene. We need more doctors and more training places to make sure people like Marcus’s mum are seen to quickly and not left in corridors for hours. #CorridorCare
