To be fair, this is too complex an issue for a poll, or indeed for X. It isn’t about puberty blockers, it’s about important support for a very vulnerable part of society. I think he’s made the right decision.
The majority of people in Northern Ireland believe Health Minister Mike Nesbitt was wrong to allocate more than £800,000 to gender identity services in Northern Ireland, a new @LucidTalk poll has revealed.

Just for full candour the proposed bill will produce the exact opposite and will push staff away from NI. This has been stated by just about every professional, representative and regulatory body and we have outlined what is needed and what will make real change. No one listens….
We need more hardworking staff to have confidence to speak out, I talk to so many who are afraid to speak for fear of punishment. My Individual Duty of Candour Bill will make it easier for nurses to speak out, will add protections & will assist in destroying an unhealthy culture.

Anyone with the surname Stout deserves to be a superstar!. What an achievement and I will follow her career with great admiration and interest.
Please send your love and support to 16 year old Skye Stout from Scotland, and don't let the ignorant bullies win. Yesterday, the official page of the Scottish club Kilmarnock women's team announced that the club had signed a contract with 16-year-old midfielder Skye Stout. A

New year’s Eve 2020 working with some simply brilliant people trying to coordinate the first batch will forever stick in my mind. This was the NHS at its absolute best.
Working in a hospital 2020 we were seeing waves of people dying of Covid. It was terrifying. When the vaccines came out we were fighting to get to it . The sense of relief getting the first dose was enormous. I'll never forget that time, even if you all have.

A huge problem is also that they use the median figure on the public facing waiting list website (rather than the mean which most would regard as the true average). This is inaccurate, underreports and gives people a false sense of how long they will actually wait.
Some women have been waiting longer. An Indpt team @NHSGIRFT said the NI system was appalling .In 2022 36,900 women were on the gynae waiting list - 330 women were on surgical endometriosis list.

Just for those replying on their own difficulties with access to GP. We know. That’s why we are so committed to improving this for all with proper resource and proper staffing. It doesn’t mean that we just abandon basic humanitarian need. One shouldn’t impinge on the other.
It is likely that it will be a very small number of children (possibly 2), and it should not be beyond our expertise and imagination to figure out how to help and fund without detriment to any others. There are many options. If they need a GP my hand is up.

This is welcome and needs to be separated from discussion on puberty blockers. There has been a huge void in service here, and we have many who need support, counselling and psychological help. They’ve been ignored and really struggle. These are difficult decisions. Well done.
Health Minister Mike Nesbitt has defended his decision to allocate more than £800,000 to gender identity services in Northern Ireland.

It’s also a good example of how NHS gets things wrong. Do it centrally and it’s complicated and takes years (7 more years for my practice!). Give the money directly (and equally) to practices and we will have people employed and making a difference within weeks and no inequity.
You launched this 9 (nine) years ago as Health Minister @moneillsf . Nothing screams failure of implementation or of planning more than the position we are now in with collapse of GP services. We need this funding urgently diverted to core service, and then we can reset.

We’re investing £61 million in GP surgeries to hire more physios, nurses, and mental health staff, creating new specialist services and more appointments to meet your needs more quickly. Cutting waiting times and ensuring access to healthcare is a top priority.

We welcome anything that might help GP practices, but genuinely this plan is now 9 years old and has failed to deliver. We need stable core GP practices and then build around them. Other staff are valuable and complement GPs but do not replace them…. 1/2.
The Health Minister said planned investment in primary care will create hundreds of thousands of additional patient appointments in NI. Minister Nesbitt has published an implementation plan for the Multi-Disciplinary Team (MDT) Programme. ➡️Read more:
