MDTs welcome but remember GPs in NI deal with > 200,000 consultations every week! We need more GPs not just more MDTs. This cannot be a zero sum game @rcgp_ni @BMANI_GP @healthdpt .

The conundrum of safe working limits vs relentless demand; escalating workload vs fewer GPs. Working “safely” means about 15 patients per GP per day not being seen! .The answer = Invest in more GPs + look after the ones we’ve got so we can look after patients when they need us.

We had 350 neighbourhood hubs in 2014 now it’s just 305! GPs at the heart of communities provide continuity and cradle to grave care. Let’s not throw baby out with the bath water or reinvent the wheel. The most cost effective part of our NHS needs more investment to deliver more!.
The health minister Mike Nesbitt has said he plans to bring more services closer to communities as part of a reset plan for health and social care in Northern Ireland.

GPs receive on average just less than 50p per patient per day to provide a free at the point of access service in NI and every single patient calling their practice for an appointment can feel that squeeze on our budget! The time for action to #saveGP is now!.
