A bit of background info on Wes Streeting that you won’t have been given in his TV interviews today - particularly in regard to discussions about junior doctors and the @NHSuk There will have been no mention of the amount of money Wes has received from wealthy private healthcare

If a patient gives me a Ā£40 engraved pen as a gift I have to by law politely decline it (rightly). But the guy in charge of UK healthcare in government can take Ā£350k+ from private healthcare links and that’s absolutely normal and definitely not a conflict of interest?! Make

Since 2015, Wes Streeting has accepted Ā£372,000 from private health care links! This should be a illegal for a health secretary in charge of the NHS. There’s a clear conflict of interest & raises concerns re: probity & integrity Who is the health secretary really working for?

Explain to me this Wes - why do we need 70k ACPs or even the current ACPs working in doctor roles when we have actual doctors?

We can deliver on jobs, training places and conditions for resident doctors. Our ability to do so will be hamstrung by unnecessary and irresponsible strike action. My message to the BMA is simple: call off the strikes, come back to the table and improve doctors’ lives.

@wesstreeting Your rhetoric makes no sense You're threatening to reduce the numbers of the very workforce you need for the NHS to flourish The very same day @DHSCgovuk celebrate increased privatisation Unless you're trying to break the NHS https://t.co/Ngd6qsEnfH

🩺 Over 6.15 million tests & operations were delivered by independent providers this year for NHS patients free of charge. Nearly 500,000 more than last year. By using spare capacity in the independent sector, we've cut NHS waiting lists by 200,000 and treated patients faster.

Artificial bottlenecks. Manufactured crisis. Governments for years has pinned the blame on BMA for apparently veto’ing medical expansion despite the BMA not having any power (and also forgetting the point was lack of jobs post training). But here we have it from the horses

@ExplosiveEnema2 Everyone wants to have a seat at the table. Royal Colleges. Journalists. Commentators. Who is going to look after them when they are out of the system? Gongs and accolades do not mean that they will get betterer care. That ambulance won't come quicker when they are old.

The tax cliff above £100K is objectively insane, inefficient and growth destroying. But since we've talked ourselves into a situation where someone on this salary is 'rich', or a 'fat cat' there is no incentive to fix it. Our politicians are either dumb or cowards.
