“Last year the entire budget for courts & legal aid was £5.5bn, almost the exact same amount of money, £5.4bn, that we spent on illegal migrants. He defends their rights under the ECHR but not ours rights under Magna Carta” @RobertJenrick tears into Lammy scrapping jury trials🔥

I know you’re not great with economics, @ZackPolanski. So here’s a quick lesson from @SenSanders on how right-wing your open borders policy really is. 👇

IF this is correct: West Mids police fudged evidence to frame Maccabi Tel Aviv fans as a threat to local residents. But the threat was actually from local, predominantly Muslim disorder *against the Israeli fans*. They have dishonestly bowed to Islamist political pressure.

It was quite an extraordinary series of evidence hearings at the @CommonsHomeAffs today: - West Midlands Police chiefs accused Dutch police of altering their evidence that led to the decision to ban Maccabi Tel Aviv fans from the game v Aston Villa last month. - The Assistant

This Government found more money for benefits and illegal migrants. But not to get our courts sitting round the clock. So, today, David Lammy is scrapping jury trials for the vast majority of cases.

Zahra Sultana opposes Heathrow expansion because of the "climate emergency". 👇 But she is lobbying for an airport in Mirpur. Do emissions in Kashmir not contribute to climate change?

In short: the reason the Chancellor raised taxes in the Budget wasn't due to an OBR downgrade. It was because of CHOICES. A choice to raise welfare spending. A choice to leave more headroom vs its fiscal rule. To imply this was down to the OBR is misleading, plain and simple.

Yes: the OBR downgraded the fiscal numbers by £16bn (actually £15.6bn) due to weaker productivity (red bar below). But it also simultaneously UPGRADED them by a whopping £32bn (blue bars). This chart from @TheIFS shows it pretty clearly👇

I'm hoping to unite Left and Right - they'll all hate my piece in today's Sunday Times, saying that successive Budgets have overtaxed the highest-earning 20%, and under-taxed both the median earner and the richest 0.1%. https://t.co/2UBeLykUdo

Slightly more encouragingly, the S&P Global UK Manufacturing PMI was confirmed at a 14-month high of 50.2 in November (the same as the flash estimate), up from 49.7. But activity is still subdued, especially among SMEs, and job losses are continuing 👇 https://t.co/lQLsK2p70k

Birth rate is BIG problem for UK. Needs more attention. But why are we surprised? I can vouch (two kids U5 and third on way) - IMPOSSIBLE to have kids + save for home. I’m MP, got a PhD etc For many, kids + £ insecurity = 20s/30s/40s, frankly, shit. https://t.co/8AeKTjOpna
