Congratulations to the White River Junction VA Medical Center staff for receiving a 4-star rating from the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services. It's a sign of the lifesaving work they do. Vermonters appreciate having this excellent hospital taking care of our veterans.

Resident doctors are being exploited. They’re working 70 or 80 hours a week and trying to pay off student debts with totally inadequate salaries. The good news is that they are forming unions and fighting back. I stand with them.

Today I met with 20 great resident doctors at University of Chicago, Northwestern and University of Illinois hospitals. Very distressing. These young doctors have formed unions because of 80 hour work weeks, inadequate pay and stressful working conditions. They deserve better.

More than 700 @SEIU1199_NE health care workers at Butler Hospital won a new union contract through standing together and fighting back against the greed of our broken health care system. Unions raise wages, protect health benefits and improve patient care.

While Wall Street executives rake in $1,769 an hour, the workers who help take care of our kids get paid less than parking lot attendants. That is crazy. No job is more important than raising our nation’s children. Child care workers deserve a living wage.

Novo Nordisk’s move to cut the price of Ozempic to $499 for the uninsured is a modest step forward, but let’s not forget. Ozempic costs just $59 in Germany while it costs less than $5 to make. The U.S. must no longer pay the highest prices in the world for prescription drugs.

The U.S. faces a health care crisis. The resident physicians and fellows at Northwestern and UChicago are fighting not only for their patients, but for the future of health care in our country. Northwestern and UChicago must do the right thing and reach fair first contracts.
