That was definitely Kemi’s best Commons performance to date. Opposition benches yelling "more!" Feels a little like the Gove confidence debate moment, where he relentlessly tore Jeremy Corbyn a new one.

I think people in this country have had enough of organisations with acronyms that have consistently got things wrong in the past

The brass neck of the Chancellor to claim Conservatives didn’t care about schools like hers. Before Cons came in in 2010 her school was only ‘satisfactory’. Now under the brilliant Harris Trust it’s repeatedly ‘outstanding’. That’s what our reforms have done for young people.

There is simply no way in which freezing income and national insurance thresholds for another three years does not smash Labour's manifesto promise not to raise taxes on "working people" into 1,000 tiny pieces.

Freezing tax thresholds for another THREE years. Over the decade this is both a vast tax increase and a fundamental change to structure of tax system. Millions of additional taxpayers and of higher rate taxpayers.

The impact of all this is tax will be taken to an all-time high level of 38% of GDP by 2030/31 (per OBR). https://t.co/CarnUJaFa6

Build baby build? Housebuilding *revised down*. Labour to miss their 1.5m homes target. And average mortgage rates to *rise* to 5% in 2029.

Until now, Labour haven’t told us how much their dodgy digital ID scheme will cost. Now we know - £1.8bn!!!! But they still cannot answer by how much it will reduce illegal migration. That’s because it will make no difference at all. On a day when their entire Budget leaked,

Today at Science & Tech Questions, I pressed Secretary of State, Liz Kendall, on the PM’s mandatory digital ID plan. The whole dubious scheme has been justified on the basis of cutting illegal migration. But Ministers cannot say by how much - in fact Kendall dropped a waffle

🚨WOW: Labour is going to spend £1.8 billion on Digital ID! And it is coming out of the Home Office budget, which is still being cut in real terms. Labour is literally diverting money away from sorting out the border crisis to taking away British people’s liberty.

Rachel Reeves has the nerve to attack the Conservatives on school standards. Under us, English children became the best at reading and maths in the Western world. Labour are destroying the very reforms that made this possible.

The (Un)Employment Rights Bill is Labour’s most damaging measure yet. But the OBR, despite saying they would, have failed to take it into account in their forecasts today. This calls their independence into doubt, and means any of Reeves' headroom is immediately impaired.

Damning line from the OBR this: "We have assessed that none of the policy measures in this Budget have a sufficiently material impact to justify adjusting our post-measures potential output forecast." Ie it's a budget which does nothing new for growth.
