Here's an example for why rotational training is such a headache: I'm moving to Watford General for ST3 (80% LTFT). I need to rent a property there to avoid commuting for two hours a day. My base salary isn't high enough to be able to pass referencing checks. 🧵

I always openly admit it. Even though I enjoy my job as a paediatric doctor, I only go to work for money. I literally don’t care about anything more than money. If this job won’t pay me enough, I will change my job, and you will lose one more paediatric doctor. It’s that simple.

You could earn £14.10 an hour working at Pret A Manger. Alternatively, you could go to medical school for six years, accumulate £80-90k of debt, be forced to work nights and weekends, and earn £14.09 an hour as an FY1.

3/ I was actually working that day and freeing up time for the meeting took quite a bit of planning ahead as it was a busy day on the paediatric ward. This man showed he has zero respect for the time of a junior doctor who had reached out to him in good faith.

@DrNeilStone Welcome to the club of out-of-touch doctors who hate anons! The anons have achieved so much and have really changed MedTwitter for the better. I stand by them.

4/ What’s even more astonishing is that the meeting was supposed to go ahead only four days before the planned strike, & just like his frontbench colleagues, he proved he does not value junior doctors even when I was trying to repair our relationship with the Conservative Party.

I have resigned from the East of England regional doctors committee of @TheBMA , effective immediately. I will not share my reasons to avoid diverting attention from the greater cause. 1/2

@xxsnzz It’s a shit take to suggest fully qualified doctors shouldn’t be paid less than baristas?

@sarah_aslannnn An issue I come across is that when waiting times cross a threshold in our paediatric assessment unit, I have to take time from seeing patients to explain wait times and address concerns of parents who are tired of waiting, which further delays everything again.

@mancunianmedic @gmcuk @TheBMA @MPS_UK Been through this too; it’s not nice. Medical students to consultants joined in. Ended up deleting my Twitter account & dealing with complaints to my trust (obviously no action was taken). You would be shocked at how benign what I had said that attracted all this actually was!

I decided to become a rep as an FY1 when I realised hardly anyone has any respect for me despite being a fully qualified doctor. I have been fighting people like Jess for three years now. I am still hopeful. 💪

After I entered negotiations with Bedfordshire Hospitals ( @bedfordhospital & @LandDHospital ) an LNC member, we have now reached an agreement to abandon plans for double strike pay deductions in July! 🥳 Hopefully others Trusts will follow & show compassion for their doctors. 👀

@RCPCHtweets Now I know you generally ignore all criticism on social media because you see yourselves at the College above having to answer to your trainees, but please this once do confirm for us who funded this ‘trip?’
