1/ Now the embargo has lifted, I’ve had time to read the @lengreview in full. While some celebrate minor cosmetic wins, I see the formal entrenchment of a parallel, underqualified medical workforce — built without medical training.

@wesstreeting @KateTerroni is there an update on this case ? This information is being hidden by the government. Patients need to know the truth https://t.co/gwwe02Lj5V
I have this morning written to @KateTerroni, new @CareQualityComm interim CEO, to request an update into the CQC investigation into Mr Tucker's death. I am told by Thames Valley Police that they have not had any update since reporting the case in May this year.

Queue theory is why I am (also) skeptical about many 'innovations' at the front door. Every pt presenting with a new problem needs a diagnosis. Only a doctor can do this. By definition, any pt sick enough to need admission to hospital also needs: - diagnostics - treatment 1/
1/ Imagine you’re waiting for ice cream. 🍦 There’s one pro scooping — fast, smooth, efficient. Now she’s replaced by 3 helpers who sort of know what they’re doing. They spill more, take longer, and keep asking for help. That’s what’s happening inside the NHS. Welcome to

There’s a trust that were too proud to pay their own consultants the right rate - offering only £300 per night shift (non resident on call) Instead of paying internal consultants the appropriate rate, they paid £2.5k per day for a week (plus agency fees) to a locum agency 🤔

Watching the praise of outgoing CQC CEO on @LinkedInUK I am sorry but a response is needed It’s the group think which is very disappointing And a challenge is a must We cannot ignore the views of so many Don’t pick your social media platform just to massage your ego

Pretty soon, there will be no room left for actual GPs

Did you “always want to be a doctor”? Put off by the pesky exams, rotational nature of training? Perhaps you never had the grades and didn’t fancy getting into debt via the graduate route? Good news!

Deprofessionalisation of medicine. Anyone can have a go!
Discussing the 'skill escalator' concept with Martin McKee (late of this parish). Mentioned in the 10YP. This suggests that anyone entering the NHS workforce can 'progress' through different roles/grades, limited only by their 'potential'. It has been touted as a partial 1/

@docib Hi Dr Beardsell Thanks for engaging on here - it’s refreshing. What I’ve seen from most 99.9% of ‘leaders’ in the NHS is that they run away from any scrutiny or conversation especially when there may be any form of possible accountability or just gaslight, deflect and then
As NHS bring in McKinsey to help them understand why productivity is down despite extra cash and more staff, I explore why reducing the collective skillset and knowledge base of our workforce; doctors, nurses, PAs, pharmacists etc has been key in this 🧵 https://t.co/1G3RSWfoDY

@docib @KreedKafer @LittlePersonDoc @RCEMpresident @gmcuk Why not flip this around? Plenty of us aren’t EM docs. But the idea ACPs are equivalent to CT3s with medical school and post grad exams would defy conventional wisdom. The training isn’t nearly as long or arduous. So surely it should be on you to justify this?

@Basil_TGMD @ronaldrosemay He didn’t. He isn’t a teacher, he was an agency temporary supply teaching assistant. They asked him not to come back. It wasn’t just because of the flags, he had been posting anti immigrant posts described as ‘racist’.

GBNews speaking to “random residents”. Only he’s actually a Reform UK councillor (Kieran Mishchuk, representing 20 mins down the road) being platformed like they’re a random resident. No one has a problem with the flag, give it a rest. It doesn’t belong to Reform UK and
‘What other country in the world has this kind of chaos going on?’ GB News Presenter Patrick Christys speaks to residents in Faversham involved in a local ‘flag war’, Union Jack flags have been removed from their homes in the night.

I'm really pleased to say that Fellows at @RCPhysicians have voted to extend voting rights to Collegiate Members. 3 out of 4 motions have been passed. You can find the details here: https://t.co/c1d1SqsuKB

Feels like we’ve gone back a few years - seeing individuals being tagged to GMC attention for merely raising a concern about ACPs. In 2023, we were shunned for raising concerns about PAs - but two years later those concerns were recognised by a Government review. Maybe listen?

@tajekbhassan @FrankCoffey26 @MartinMariappan @gmcuk Delete this. No matter how you intend it, this reads like a implied GMC referral threat and you know the morbidity and mortality associated with that

I struggle to understand how there isn’t widespread alarm and panic in medical leadership about the hardships young doctors face and their bleak future. I cannot believe the lack of discussion and planning around neighbourhoods and postgraduate medical education reforms over the

Let me show you what happens when you try to replace more skilled workforce with lesser skilled workforce This always reminds me of a story - a famous bulb manufacturer was working on building better and better filaments fro their light bulbs that would last longer They
Those in charge of the NHS are trying to tell us all that you can get: - the same or better outcomes - more quickly/better access - more cheaply By using people less skilled This is NHS and quango logic I do wonder why we have an education system in the first place

“You described Reform and other parties across Europe today as among the 'right wing equivalents of the fascists in the 1930s'. Why?” “Because that’s what they are.” @vicderbyshire asks Lord Heseltine about remarks he made at Conservative Party Conference. #Newsnight
