Hundreds of doctors out of work Doctors taking locally employed jobs just to out food on the table 100's of applications for those jobs 30k applications for 10k specialist training jobs. @wesstreeting is blind to what is going on. If it continues like this there will be no Dr's

Compete denial of reality from government
Straight from the submission: “The increase in locally employed doctors would become concerning in a certain set of circumstances: either if significant numbers of doctors were feeling 'forced' into taking time out of training due to a lack of suitable opportunities or, if

A 2% real terms pay cut is the real slap in the face. Let alone the tone deaf paragraphs on resident doctors’ employment prospects. There appears to be very little grasp of why we are actively haemorrhaging doctors from the NHS.

Being in a trade union isn’t really like just having insurance (although you do get that for work issues), it’s much more like joining a gym; you’re not going to get fitter just by paying, you need to put some effort in too in order to get those benefits!

“I thought I needed help answering emails. Turns out I needed someone to fix my entire client process.” That’s the difference between hiring an assistant and hiring a Squared Away operator. We don’t just help you stay afloat, we make your systems watertight.

How many patients know this? In 2025 there were 91,999 applications for just 12,833 training posts. Thousands of doctors who want to be your next GPs and A&E doctors were shut out. So when you wait months for an appointment/12hrs in A&E, remember this is the government’s choice

Cutting the wages of Doctor and Nurses (sub inflation pay rise proposals) won’t fix our NHS @wesstreeting it will break it! Undervaluing hard working front line staff, will convince them to leave and patients will suffer. @BMAResidents @BMANorthernRDC
So the DDRB got published: https://t.co/iItt5dEpVw 2.5% Another blow inflation pay increase whichever metric you use. A doctor today is STILL paid less than a doctor in 2008 @wesstreeting this is pitiful.

Government proposes 2.5% for 2026/27. Lower than all measures of inflation. There’s no two ways about it; it’s a pay cut. Can’t see doctors accepting this. We must now build sustainable workplace power through organising in every medical workplace.✊🏼

The government’s proposed 2.5% pay award for doctors in 2026 is indefensible. It is yet another real terms pay cut despite years of warnings about recruitment, retention & the NHS workforce crisis. This is a political choice to devalue doctors & undermine the future of the NHS.

Waiting lists are eye-wateringly long but 1/3 consultant posts are unfilled. £674 million on locum spend. The problem isn’t a lack of doctors, it’s a choice not to hire them.

Isn’t this incredible. All the rhetoric we hear about thousands more GPs and hospital doctors and the reality is under and unemployment of doctors when patients are screaming out for an appointment with a doctor and waiting list are sky high. Shocking
@gpdiarist @Parody_RCGP @rcgp @TheBMA @BJGPjournal Next door’s dog walker is an out of work young doctor (post F2). You couldn’t make it up.

Time and again we told @NHSEngland & @DHSCgovuk @wesstreeting @SKinnock that this roll out of online consultations isn’t ready. We were ignored. Our concerns dismissed. The software isn’t safe. Here’s some real life examples of what’s going on now. It’s frightening….

Today I visited Medway Hospital to chat with resident doctors about both local and national issues. Here’s what came up: We firmly rejected the claim that strikes are driven by a tiny BMA minority. I spoke to doctors from FY1 up to senior registrars, everyone is concerned 1/n

"Hospitals report an overall capacity to train an extra 1,358 AiTs. Broken down to a per-year intake figure, there is space for 384 additional AiTs per year (178 at CT1-3 level and 206 at ST4-7+ level) – if government funding were made available" @wesstreeting could fix this
We’re 2,147 anaesthetic doctors short, and the gap is growing. Surgeries are cancelled every day because of it. There’s capacity to train more, yet the government threatens to cut doctor jobs. Patients are being denied the care they deserve.

There are three of us in my family who became doctors—myself and two of my brothers. Between us, we’ve got six children. Not a single one of them wants to go anywhere near medicine. Not one. And you know what? I don’t blame them.

Shocking new figures from the RCN show growing racist abuse against nurses. We stand in solidarity with affected nurses and colleagues across the NHS, and call for an end to the escalating use of hostile language and anti-migrant rhetoric. Read more:

Employees from ‘international backgrounds, or perceived as ethnically distinct from the majority population, are facing a sustained campaign of anti-migrant rhetoric’
Racism towards nurses has hit a 'crisis point' in the UK. That's the stark warning from the nursing and midwifery regulator. It comes as a report from the Nurses' Union finds that incidents of racism have increased by 55% in the last three years. But with many too scared to

‘Strikes cost £250 million which could train 1500 GPs or 28,000 knee/hip replacements’ instead Streeting is holding resident doctors + the NHS to ransom by threatening doctor jobs and refusing to negotiate on jobs + pay. Imagine using the money to negotiate? 🤷🏻♀️ @wesstreeting
Wes Streeting, from the party of organised labour, threatens workers that if they go out on strike over pay he'll cancel their essential training. Labour, on the side of working people until they stand up for themselves, & then its sneers & threats.

Artificial bottlenecks. Manufactured crisis. Governments for years has pinned the blame on BMA for apparently veto’ing medical expansion despite the BMA not having any power (and also forgetting the point was lack of jobs post training). But here we have it from the horses
Health and Social Secretary @wesstreeting: “My message to resident doctors: the fewer doctors who go on strike, the more specialty jobs I can afford to create.”
