This technology exists literally running on our toasters and we still throw Postgres and Elasticsearch at trivial problems.

The "basis points for breakfast" culture also has an interesting compounding side effect: 1 basis point of $OPEN margin was worth $1.26m in Q1-2020 and turned into $3.8m in Q4-2021.
Each bps widens their moat and saves even more $$$ 10 years from now.

TLDR; $Z is betting that $OPEN will be worth more than $30 by Q2 2027 and it will pay off for them and their shareholders rather than taking pure cash for referrals.

The perception that Opendoor suddenly pivoted to becoming a marketplace is also quite wrong.
Their institutional marketplace has been around since at least 2019 and is now ~10% (~$1.5B GMV/yr). I think them not breaking it out since IPO is going to bite them quite a bit.
