10 years ago, I got divorced, lost my job, so me and my buddy got on our motorcycles and rode North to the Alaskan Arctic until the road ran out.

The SX-70 (1972) seems magical and revolutionary even today. An absolute feat of technology and user experience. Photography went from a complex exposure and development process to a single click. “A Triumph Of Genius” about Edwin Land, the founder of Polaroid, is a great read.
Can you even imagine how revolutionary Polaroid cameras felt when they came out? The unofficial launch of the age of instant gratification

After two-and-a-half years of development, we’re thrilled to share Darkroom 7 with the world. Most of what happened in behind the scenes, and for now, we HOPE you don’t notice it, but there’s also a lot new stuff to get excited about.

Apple Books year in review is fun. My favorite of the year was probably the audiobook of Brideshead Revisited, read by Jeremy Irons — a @simonsarris recommendation.

It's pretty apt and symbolic for the shift from Mac to iPhone that the 'tool glyph' (simplified to this one on iPhoneOS 2) eventually dropped the tools and now refers to the modern icon paradigm: the app icon shape.

Fun fact: this modern App Store glyph was itself based on the old OS X icon from its icon design paradigm: apps were represented by documents and tools, realistically rendered in perspective. The icon for 'apps' was a collection of tools: a pencil, brush and ruler.

this post by Alan Dye on instagram seems almost designed to offend. The horrible “Create Mode” typesetting. Using a Steve Jobs quote to refer to going to Meta. Yikes
