This results means so much to me and not just because I’m a Labour supporter. As an LGBTQ+ individual with LGBTQ+ parents I’ve (unfortunately) been represented by a person who has voted against our community time and time again. I’m glad we now have an MP who won’t do that
Genuinely so happy about this. Sarah has been working so hard for the past couple months for this victory.
She is definitely one of the most dedicated people I know and I’m so happy to say she’s my MP.
On what planet is this a balanced panel to discuss politics? I know it’s Channel 4 but this is something else.
5 people who are openly left wing activists or Labour Party commentators and then the poor Clare Balding who will have to listen to them all night.
It’s honestly a disgrace that the Lib Dems are aligning themselves with the likes of Galloway.
I’d like to know if
@EdwardJDavey
and the Lib Dem leadership think this is acceptable.
Galloway winning is not a success for any progressive. He’s endorsed the Tories as recently as 2021, he’s a transphobe, he’s extremely anti immigration as well as being a bigot.
I hope he doesn’t win but I fear he will.
Happy Birthday to the next Deputy Prime Minister
@AngelaRayner
.
She shows every day that working class people can make it in politics and it’s not just for the privileged few.
Betty Boothroyd was a legendary MP and Speaker. She deserves to have her memory remembered. Sunak is directly disrespecting the work she did and her memory.
Happy birthday to one of the best Parliamentarians and MPs that’s ever lived- Dennis Skinner . He was an inspiration to me and many others growing up. He will always be remembered for calling out the tories for their failures and general incompetence.
The abuse that young members have faced for speaking up for our trans brothers and sisters is absolutely disgusting. If anyone needs to talk to anyone about this my DMs are always open.
No one on the left should vote for a man who as recently as 2021 voted Tory. Galloway is no friend of the left. He is a political opportunist with no principles or backbone.
Today is a great day. Today Parliament passed the Bill to bring rail back into public ownership. Privatisation has failed. The only way to fix the railways is to bring them into public ownership.
That's what this Labour Government is doing🌹
Genuinely awful to see. This is not what a Labour representative should be doing. A Labour Shadow Health Secretary shouldn’t be pandering to the Tories and their transphobia.
Solidarity with the trans community in moments like this.
The Cass Review must be a watershed moment for the NHS’s gender identity services.
My response for
@UKLabour
underlining our support for the Cass Review’s evidence-led recommendations and our determination to put children’s health and wellbeing above the political fray 👇🏻
It’s absolutely disgusting to see ANY Labour member support a post from Britain First. Britain First are a fascist organisation which has no place in society.
'Do you believe that?'
'No.'
'Why did you post it?'
'I don't know.'
@TomSwarbrick1
challenges Susan Hall after she reposted an article stating, 'It is a delusion that humans can control the climate'.
Thank you to
@IanByrneMP
and everyone who joined us in Coventry South for our
#RightToFood
campaign sessions yesterday!
An amazing turn-out, lots of great conversations on the doorstep, and many umbrellas! ☔️✊🏽
Great day on the
#labourdoorstep
in Coventry South with Labour MP
@zarahsultana
. People are definitely turning away from the Tory government and are ready to vote for Zarah. People were really impressed with Zarahs record of public service.
I'm thankful to be on the ballot for the election of Young Labours Under 18's Rep. If elected I will work to ensure that the Labour Party's Under 18's wing is a Supportive, Campaigning, and Socialist place🌹
Today is the start of the trial into the murder of Brianna Ghey.
Two teenagers are charged with her murder, which took place in February this year.
(1/3)
So happy to say that at Congleton CLPs AGM I was elected as the CLPs Secretary and as our CLPs rep on Cheshire East Labours LGC. I was also elected as a Delegate to Conference in September 🌹
I want the next NEC to bring in Dual CLP Membership for all students. It's really annoying that I'm going to move CLP in a couple weeks and I have to abandon my current CLP
Keir Starmer tells us that we can choose hope.
The hope of national renewal.
And reject populist gestures.
The problem is he's definitely describing
@TheGreenParty
- not Labour.
More Labour MPs should do videos like this. Most people don’t watch the news or even keep up to date with what their MP is doing. Videos like this show that MPs do work hard and are active every day. Great job by
@simonlightwood
’s team
October round-up in just 30 seconds! ⌛
I've tried to give you a flavour of what I've been up to as your MP this month.
Keep up to date with what I'm up to here:
What Thatcher did to mining and industrial communities was not "entrepreneurialism", it was vandalism.
Starmer praising Thatcher is an insult to those communities in Scotland, and across the UK, who still bear the scars of her disastrous policies.
It’s extremely disappointing that yet again Scottish Young Labour members are experiencing pile-ons and mountains of abuse from SNP/Indy supporters. This isn’t uncommon but it’s always disappointing.
Solidarity to
@scotsyounglab
members who have experienced pile-ons recently.
It’s extremely distressing that we have to put this out again. But in light of the events that have happened in the past couple of days.
We want to remind all young members that we’re here to support you.
DM us if you need us. 🌹
Starting the morning in Wixams today!
Great response on the doorstep already, voters here know that in rural seats just like this, only the Lib Dems can beat the Conservatives.
This event isn’t accessible for the majority of Young Labour members. At 12PM on a Wednesday most Young people are either in work or education (University or College).
The committee needs to make sure events are accessible to all members.
Join us next week in Blackpool South for our first campaign day with our new committee 🌹
We’ll be knocking on doors to elect the brilliant
@ChrisPWebb
in the by-election on 2nd May
Full details here -
Thatcher ruined this country. She sold off major industries and made life worse for thousands of LGBTQ+ people. She is not someone who the shadow chancellor should be influenced by.
Great day on the
#LabourDoorstep
fighting for Labour MP for Blackpool South. I spoke to so many people who are enthusiastic about voting Labour on the 2nd May. If you’re a voter in Blackpool please elect Chris.
It was also great to see Young Labours LGBT+ Officer
@cchloebrooks
!
I’m so excited to announce that I’m running to be your Under 18’s rep on the Young Labour national committee. I’m running to ensure we have a supportive, campaigning and socialist youth wing.
Great day on the doorstep with
@IanByrneMP
and
@zarahsultana
fighting for to re-elect Zarah as the MP so she can continue to deliver for the people of Coventry South!
These journalists are so tough on Labour and Labour Party politicians but give the tories a free pass on all the misery they’ve caused for the past 14 years.
Just finished doorknocking for
@SarahEdwardsTam
. We’re all hoping for a Labour gain- it’ll be so close but I think we can do it. Thank you to everyone at the campaign centre and thank you to all the staffers who have campaigned with us activists. Let’s hope for a Labour GAIN.
Honestly if you have nothing better to do then give a 17 year old Labour member abuse of Twitter on a Saturday night then you need to sort out your priorities.
Dear
@elonmusk
, Please help! The UK's Labour Party are getting Community Notes published in their favour. Despite the fact these notes are often wrong as verified by leading barristers such as
@SBarrettBar
. We've an election this year. What do you advise we do? Kind Regards🇬🇧
Great day on the
#labourdoorstep
in Blackpool South for the Labour Unions campaign day. It was great to talk to so many voters who are planning on changing their vote from Tory to Labour. They know that they’ve been failed by this Tory government.
I had a great evening with some great friends for
@AngelaRayner
’s fundraiser in Ashton-under-Lyne. It was great to hear from
@AndyBurnhamGM
as well about how a Labour government can and will change Britain!
I’d like to thank everyone who voted for me to be Under 18’s Rep on the Young Labour National Committee. Unfortunately this time I wasn’t successful in my campaign. I stood on a platform of ensuring Young Labour was Supportive, Campaigning & Socialist. And I’m proud of it. (1/4).
We had a great day in Tamworth for the
@LabourStudents
by-election campaign day. People are obviously tired of this Tory government and are ready for change
This really shows that everyone who has views that are left of centre should be supporting
@SadiqKhan
. The Greens candidate, Lib Dem candidate and even George Galloway are enabling bigot Susan Hall.
Genuinely it’s so interesting to see SNP supporters in my comments act like every Scottish person is pro SNP. Especially considering in the summer I spent two weeks canvassing for
@ScottishLabour
where I heard ExTories and exSNP supporters say that they’re going to vote Labour.
First they came for the Communists
And I did not speak out
Because I was not a communist
Then they came for the Jews
And I did not speak out
Because I was not a Jew
Then they came for me
And there was no one left
To speak out for me
Pertinent words re Starmer’s smoking ban
Great day on the
#labourdoorstep
in the new constituency of Lancaster & Wyre with Labour MP
@CatSmithMP
and
@socialist_yl
. People are sick and tired of this Tory government and their constant failures. They’re ready for change with Cat Smith
It’s not a claim it’s a fact. The ‘08 financial crisis wasn’t caused by Labour and Gordon Brown (as the tories like to claim). It was caused by investment bankers like Sunak.
🚨 NEW: Keir Starmer claims that Rishi Sunak was "making millions betting on the misery of working people during the financial crisis" in 2008
Sunak responds, saying Starmer is "sniping from the sidelines"
#PMQs
This is a stupid decision. Starmer is many things but a bad debater is not one of them. He would make Sunak look even more incompetent than he already is.
🛤️ Rail networks across Europe have been systematically shrunk by governments according to a new report.
🚉 To tackle the cost of living and climate crises we need reliable and affordable public transport.
💚 We would invest properly in a rail network run for people, not profit
More classism is directed towards Rayner. Rayner is constantly directed by waves of classism from horrible individuals like this guy.
Solidarity with
@AngelaRayner
. I can't wait until you're deputy PM you show working-class people every day that it's possible.
Ladies and gentlemen…. I shit you not!!this woman could be the New Deputy Prime Minister of the United Kingdom.
I’m getting scared now!! How you feeling about it?
Great day on the
#LabourDoorstep
in Blackpool with some great people. People are definitely tired of this Tory nonsense and they’re ready for change with
@ChrisPWebb
.
It was also great to be canvassing in the lovely Blackpool weather
Great to be joined by
@MonicaLennon7
on the doors in Hamilton and Clyde Valley as we campaign to elect
@imogenwalker
. We spoke to so many who are tired of both of their failing governments and are desperate for Change.
I'm on the ballot!!
Thank you so much to all the CLPs who nominated me for YL U18's Rep🌹
If elected I will fight for a U18's youth wing that is:
-Campaigning for a Labour Gov.
-Welcoming to all
-Fighting for progressive policies like trans rights, a wealth tax & votes @ 16
What a great day on the
#labourdoorstep
in Leighton with our PPC
@connor_naismith
. People are tired of Kieran Mullan and his Tory governments incompetence. They’re ready for Labour and Connor. We had ex-Green, Lib Dem and Tory voters say they’re going to vote Labour next time.
Great day on the
#LabourDoorstep
talking to the public about the issues that matter most. People are tired of this Tory gov. and are ready for change. The issues that came up the most are potholes (unsurprisingly), the cost of living crisis and the lack of mental health services.
As we head into polling day I’d like to thank everyone who I’ve been on the doors with over the past few weeks. Tomorrow is going to be a long day but I believe we can win.
I’ve been joined by some great friends who I know will be fighting hard over the next 24 hours!
